Fidai R: A Concise History of the Muslim
World (Volume 1)

A Concise History of the Muslim World (Volume 1)

[A Quintessence of Quranic Commentaries]

Tafsir Ishraq Al-Ma'ani (Volume 5) - Surah 21-28

Al Fauz Al Kabir Fi Usul At Tafsir is Shah Waliullah Dehlawi's systematic study of the principles necessary for a disciplined understanding of the Qur'an. The preface presents the work as an important introduction to Qur'anic study, distinguished by an independent method intended to clarify interpretive difficulties and guide students and commentators in approaching the revealed text.
Rather than proceeding as a continuous commentary, the work examines the intellectual foundations of tafsir. Its opening discussions consider five principal sciences associated with Qur'anic discourse, including disputation, divine injunctions, divine favours and punishments, and related theological questions. The author then considers the arrangement and meanings of Qur'anic passages, abrogation, occasions of revelation, points of obscurity, and the characteristic style of the Qur'an.
Further sections examine exegesis, transmitted traditions, juristic and interpretive inference, Qur'anic rarities, God-given sciences, abbreviated letters, and related questions encountered by the serious student of revelation. The introductory discussion explains that the treatise was composed to provide principles that assist readers in understanding the Qur'an without becoming dependent upon extensive commentary literature for every interpretive question.
Particular attention is given to the relationship between revelation, language, context, interpretation, and the underlying purposes for which verses were revealed. The manuscript also considers occasions of revelation while cautioning against reducing every verse to an isolated historical incident; it instead emphasizes the larger moral and revelatory purposes addressed by the Qur'anic text.
This English edition is suited to students of tafsir, Qur'anic studies, Islamic intellectual history, theology, and the interpretive foundations of Islamic jurisprudence. It will also be useful to academic libraries, seminaries, researchers, and readers studying classical Muslim approaches to revelation.
A compact classical treatise, Al Fauz Al Kabir Fi Usul At Tafsir presents tafsir as a disciplined science grounded in textual structure, transmitted knowledge, interpretive reasoning, and careful attention to the purposes of revelation.

Al Fauz Al Kabir Fi Usul At Tafsir

Islam and the Earliest Muslims: Two Conflicting Portraits presents a structured examination of the formative Islamic era through the lens of revelation, Prophetic guidance, and the historical character of the first Muslim community. Written by Mawl¿n¿ Sayyid Abul Hasan ¿Al¿ Nadw¿, the work explores the foundations upon which Islam claims universality, permanence, and guidance for humanity.
The book begins by identifying essential prerequisites for a universal religion: miraculous guidance, the distinction between Prophets and political empire-builders, the preservation of divine scripture, and the necessity of a singular source of religious authority. These themes are examined through Qur¿¿nic evidence, historical testimony, and observations concerning the earliest generations of Muslims.
A substantial portion of the work focuses on the transformative effect of Prophetic guidance upon the ¿ä¿bah, presenting their moral character, devotion, integrity, and social conduct as historical evidence of the success of the Prophetic mission. The author draws upon Muslim and non-Muslim testimonies, historical reports, and classical sources to illustrate the distinctive nature of the earliest Islamic community.
The volume further discusses the preservation of the Qur¿¿n, the doctrine of Khatm al-Nubuwwah (Finality of Prophethood), the role of guidance in Islam, and contrasting theological portrayals of early Islamic history. Throughout the work, arguments are framed through textual evidence, historical analysis, and juristic reasoning rather than polemical rhetoric.
Of particular importance is the author's effort to compare differing presentations of Islam against the historical record, encouraging readers to examine the earliest Muslim generation through documented evidence and the primary principles of the faith.
Suitable for scholars, students of Islamic studies, academic libraries, researchers of Islamic intellectual history, and readers seeking a deeper understanding of the formative period of Islam, this volume offers a thoughtful study of religious authority, scripture, communal formation, and the ethical legacy of the earliest Muslims.
Grounded in historical sources and classical Islamic scholarship, the work contributes to the study of Islamic belief, Prophetic guidance, and the development of the first Muslim society within its historical and textual context.

Islam and the Earliest Muslims - Two Conflicting Portraits

Tafsir Ishraq Al-Ma'ani (Volume 7) -Surah 40-59

Islamic Law of Divorce presents a concise and structured study of the juristic principles governing marriage dissolution in Islamic law. Written with particular attention to clarity and legal method, the work explains the foundations, procedures, consequences, and limitations associated with talaaq and related forms of marital dissolution.
The study begins with the principal sources of Islamic law-the Qur'an, Sunnah, ijma and qiyas-before examining the distinctive legal character of the Muslim marriage contract. The author emphasizes that divorce is regulated by prescribed conditions and procedures rather than being an unrestricted act, and discusses reconciliation, arbitration, periods of purity, iddah, revocable and irrevocable divorce, and the consequences of multiple pronouncements.
Further chapters address divorce by implication (kinayah), the right of re-taking, remedies available to a wife, conditions incorporated into a marriage contract, and tafwid ul talaaq, by which the husband may delegate authority to the wife under defined terms. The manuscript also compares juristic positions associated with the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali schools where relevant.
A substantial concluding section considers judicial grounds for dissolution sought by the wife, including absence or disappearance of the husband, failure to maintain, failure to fulfil marital obligations, impotency, insanity, disease or defect, and cruelty. In doing so, the work illustrates the operation of juristic reasoning, necessity, and inter-madhhab legal consideration within Islamic family law.
Originally intended to set out the basic rules of Islamic divorce law in a clear and accessible manner, this edition incorporates additional articles written after the first edition of 1983.
Suitable for students of Islamic law, scholars of classical fiqh, legal researchers, Muslim family-law practitioners, seminaries, and academic libraries, this volume offers a compact study of divorce as a regulated legal institution within the classical juristic tradition.

Welcome to "Islamization: Reforming Contemporary Knowledge" by Abdu Hamid A. Abu Sulayman. In this captivating exploration, the crisis of knowledge in our modern world is unraveled, tracing its roots and offering insightful solutions rooted in Islamic principles.
Dive deep into the heart of contemporary thought as Abu Sulayman delves into the delicate balance between revelation and reason. He guides us through the genesis of the crisis of knowledge, illuminating how it has manifested in various spheres of society. From the corridors of academia to the halls of governance, the repercussions of this crisis are profound and far-reaching.
But fear not, for within these pages lies a roadmap to redemption. Abu Sulayman advocates for a redefinition of knowledge-one that integrates the timeless wisdom of Islam with the demands of our rapidly changing world. Through meticulous scholarship and impassioned rhetoric, he calls for the establishment of a robust Islamic infrastructure and education system to serve as the bedrock of a reinvigorated intellectual tradition.
Central to Abu Sulayman's thesis is the Islamization of knowledge-a bold endeavor that seeks to infuse academic disciplines with the ethical framework of Islam. Drawing upon the rich tapestry of Islamic history and jurisprudence, he offers a compelling vision for the future of political science, challenging prevailing notions such as democracy and sovereignty. By interrogating the very foundations of these concepts, Abu Sulayman demonstrates their inadequacy in capturing the complexities of Muslim societies and their governance structures.
Yet, "Islamization" is more than just a critique of contemporary thought; it is a call to action-a rallying cry for all those who yearn for a more just and equitable world. Through the lens of political science, Abu Sulayman invites us to reconsider our assumptions about power, authority, and governance. He challenges us to confront the uncomfortable truths that lie at the heart of our modern political systems and to imagine alternative futures grounded in the principles of justice and compassion.
But perhaps most importantly, "Islamization" is a testament to the enduring vitality of Islamic thought. It reminds us that the wisdom of the past is not lost but waiting to be rediscovered and revitalized for a new era. Abu Sulayman's vision is one of hope-a vision that dares to imagine a world where knowledge is not a commodity to be bought and sold but a sacred trust to be nurtured and cherished for the betterment of humanity.
So, dear reader, I invite you to embark on this journey of discovery and transformation. Let the pages of "Islamization" be your guide as you navigate the complexities of our modern world with wisdom, courage, and compassion. Together, let us forge a new path-one that honors the past, embraces the present, and beckons towards a brighter future for all.

The Tart¿b al-Mad¿rik (Organising the means and revealing the methods for discovering the eminent scholars of the School of M¿lik) by Q¿¿¿ 'Iy¿d al-Yä¿ub¿ is a seminal biographical compendium of the scholars of the M¿lik¿ school. It begins with an extensive biography dealing with Im¿m M¿lik and records the chains of scholars from him, divided by region, listing over 1300 scholars in nine generations in eight volumes.
Shaykh Abdalqadir as-Sufi regarded the Tart¿b al-Mad¿rik as the essential record of the intellectual lineage of the scholars who transmitted the school of Madina, and it is the foundational reference in his seminal work, Root Islamic Education because of how it highlights the knowledge and behaviour exemplified in the lives of the early scholars. He says:'We can show you a line that goes from Madinah al-Munawwara at the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and give him peace, through to Imam Malik, and from Imam Malik continues for five hundred years-in the Middle East, to the gates of India and to the gates of Russia, right across North Africa, right into Europe. For five hundred years, you find that the leadership was in the hands of slaves who were fuqah¿' and before whom amirs bowed their heads. And I say that is Islamic history, and not this other thing that has been invented by the orientalists which we have fallen for - of dynasties and epochs marked by changes in the style of jugs and arches.' (p.16)
You could say that the Tart¿b al-Mad¿rik provides the foundation and blueprint for the understanding conveyed by Root Islamic Education. The work provides biographies of the scholars and their historical positions and how they dealt with the problems that arose in times of conflict because we see the interaction of scholars with the Abbasids, Aghlabids, Fatimids, Andalusian Umayyads, Mur¿bit¿n, and others. We see how they interacted with power, and the role and proper behaviour of the q¿¿¿. It also fleshes out the implementation of the d¿n, providing a practical guide to education and action. It shows Islam embodied in real people and the action which that produces in society. It is a corrective to an abstract or idealised approach to Islam. It also provides us with a rich tapestry of the history in which the scholars lived, particularly North Africa and Andalusia, and a sort of historical map of Maliki scholars. It is, as Shaykh Abdalqadir says in Root Islamic Education:
'We would take the Tart¿b al-Mad¿rik of Qadi Iyad because it gives this record and will let them see an example on which they must be based, and on which they have no choice but to be based. The Tart¿b al-Mad¿rik is a record of human achievement, Islamically, that, I tell you, when you study it, you will say, "I did not know such men existed on the face of the earth!" And the Tart¿b al-Mad¿rik is more electrifying than any of the books of the Tadhkirat al-Awliya' and so on, much more electrifying as a phenomenon of the human splendour of the people that this Islamic deen has produced. It is magnificent, in its raising up of the human being.' (p. 21)Volume 2 treats the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations of M¿lik¿ scholars, including such as Asad ibn al-Fur¿t who began the process of asking Ibn al-Q¿sim, Ibn Wahb and other direct students of Imam M¿lik about his positions on many issues; Sän¿n the compiler of the Mudawwana based on Asad's work which he thoroughly revised; Abu-l-¿asan al-Ash'ar¿ the founder of the eponymous school of kal¿m; and Ab¿ Bakr ash-Shibl¿, the noted student of al-Junayd and, in his own right, shaykh of täawwuf.

The Chapter of the Chambers: A Guided Study of S¿rah al-¿ujur¿t
S¿rah al-¿ujur¿t is one of the most profound chapters of the Noble Qur'¿n, offering timeless guidance on faith, character, and the etiquette that governs a righteous society. Though brief in length, it lays the foundations for a believer's relationship with All¿h Almighty, His Beloved Messenger ¿, and the wider Muslim community.

In The Chapter of the Chambers, Mufti Sayyid ¿Abdul ¿amad al-Q¿dir¿ presents a clear and engaging verse-by-verse study of this remarkable s¿rah, drawing upon the insights of the classical scholars while making its lessons accessible to contemporary readers. From reverence for the Messenger ¿ and the importance of verifying information, to resolving disputes, guarding the tongue, avoiding suspicion and backbiting, and understanding the true measure of honor before All¿h, each passage highlights practical guidance for daily life.

Grounded in the rich heritage of traditional Sunni scholarship, this work draws from authoritative works of tafs¿r, prophetic narrations, and the explanations of the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah, enabling readers to appreciate both the meanings of the verses and their enduring relevance.

Whether studied individually, in classrooms, or within study circles, The Chapter of the Chambers serves as both an introduction to S¿rah al-¿ujur¿t and a practical guide to cultivating reverence, sincerity, brotherhood, noble character, and piety.

Written in an accessible yet scholarly style, this volume is intended for students of knowledge, teachers, and general readers seeking a deeper understanding of one of the Qur'¿n's most transformative chapters.
