 Bette Howland (1937-2017) wuchs in Chicago als Tochter jüdischer Einwanderer auf. Als geschiedene, alleinerziehende junge Mutter kämpfte sie darum, sich und ihre beiden kleinen Söhne über Wasser zu halten und dennoch ein Leben als Schriftstellerin zu verwirklichen. In this book of linked, illustrated essays--a unique hybrid of memoir, art writing, and wisdom-seeking narrative--Steven Kasher looks closely at some thirty artworks in his personal collection.
