One of the differentiating factors of our present is the increased environmental awareness. However, this has not yet been converted into social, economic and law systems that reveal the multiple challenges that are imposed on us. The destructive impulse of the dominant ideologies in the twentieth century maintains the hegemony of their spaces, barely trying to adapt itself into a new reality that surpasses them.&#13;&#13;Meanwhile in 1972 we believed there was a marked environmental degradation, in 2022 we recognize that we are in the middle of the sixth mass extinction of the species, the earth temperature has already increased in more than one degree Celsius and a significant percent of the planet's sweet water is contaminated. If the Constitution that Chile is planning to write and set in force in the years to come, wants to capture the logic of our times, it is essential that it sets as something basic, the environmental conditions where the legal-political communities, constituted by the chileans communities, are going to develop.&#13;&#13;This book explores the details of the "Ecological Constitution" concept, that refers to the provisions that have to be contained in a Constitution in a transversal way and that, setting the environmental protection as a central axis of the social organization, attempts to harmonize the social and nature activities.&#13;&#13;The new Constitution of Chile won't change everything, but it can constitute a first fundamental base on that change. The e-book describes and evaluates the status and functioning of the constitutional and governance systems of the Western Balkans countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Serbia), with regard to their EU-accession. As it describes the main branches of government functions, it may also be used as a handbook, which also identifies the bottlenecks of governance (especially the sensitive ethnic power sharing and representation issues) and critically examines the rule of law aspects. This comparative study covers all six countries of the region systematically, in terms of governance and rule of law. The e-book presents all major institutional fields of constitutional and administrative law: electoral system, ethnic issues, organisation of the state, separation of powers (legislative, executive, judiciary), administrative procedure, civil service, and constitutional adjudication.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Zsolt Szabó is associate professor at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. His research covers comparative constitutional law, especially parliamentary functions and legislation. He is Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Parliamentary Studies.

If you haven't followed the money, chances are you don't know the real story of America and its Revolution. Nothing gives a clearer insight into this history than the life of early America's dominant merchant trader, first bank president, and first&nbsp;central&nbsp;banker, Thomas Willing. In this book, Richard Vague shows how Willing bankrolled - and in the process helped save - the Revolution and then fundamentally shaped the financial architecture of the young Republic. So powerful was Willing that President John Adams complained that George Washington and Alexander Hamilton were governed by him. Yet at a decisive moment in Willing's life he voted against independence, as conflict between Pennsylvania's moneyed elite and the emergent lower and middle classes embroiled the politics of 1776 in bitter class conflict. This dynamic would continue after independence, as Willing and his associates attempted to tame the democratic forces unleashed by revolution and thereby set up a tension that has never stopped shaping US politics.
