This book presents fresh research on how Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), patterns of clustering, digitalization and innovation policies, interact and influence India's industrialisation and its greening or sustainability. As India seeks to accelerate its process of industrialization especially focusing on the manufacturing sector, different interactions between agents of industrialization need to be understood better through evidence-based research. The volume through its 17 original contributions, focuses on three broad interrelated themes: FDI, export performance, innovation and environmental sustainability; growth, competitiveness and spatial distribution of MSMEs concerning access to finance, digitalisation and sustainability; and, green technology, circular economy and challenges towards clean transition and green industrialization. Research presented in this book does not see industrialization as an isolated process from globalization and appreciates the need to act upon specific impacts of foreign trade and investments. With a focused and futuristic approach towards industrialisation in India, it provides rigorous evidence-based treatment of complex interactions using secondary and primary sources of data deploying appropriate analytical techniques. Data-Driven Learning in the EU

This monograph presents a method for resolving the issue of which distribution to assume when estimating the technical efficiency of industries using the stochastic production frontier model. Other studies use methods that rely on specific industry data, but this method identifies and resolves the distribution type by comparing data across many industries. A unique aspect highlighted here is the notion that by considering the distribution of inefficiency as a result of the asymptotic distribution derived from a specific stochastic process of firm productivity, it is possible to discern whether the technical inefficiency arises from some irrational decision making within the firms, indicated by the information on the inefficiency generating mechanism provided by the distribution parameters. This research clearly demonstrates the relationship between the econometric method of the stochastic production frontier model and Leibenstein's theory of X-inefficiency. The method proposed in this book is applied to data from Japanese firms, confirming that the observed variance in productivity within Japanese industries cannot be denied as the result of irrational decision making by firms.

Das vergangene viertel Jahrhundert hat gezeigt, dass sich die wirtschaftliche Lage Chinas extrem gewandelt hat. Die Wirtschaft ist in einem raschen Prozess enorm gewachsen. Eine zu schnelle wirtschaftliche Veränderung führt zwar zu mehr Wohlstand sowie zu mehr politischen und gesellschaftlichen Freiheiten für die Bevölkerungsmehrheit, bringt aber auch gravierende soziale und politische Konsequenzen mit sich: Soziale Destabilisierung und Ordnungsverlust sind im heutigen China vorzufinden.1 Diese sind u.a. durch die Umformulierung der Wirtschaftsethik im Rahmen der Wirtschaftsreformen nach 1978 und das daraus resultierende Anwachsen von Korruption verursacht. Im Zusammenhang mit der Korruption sind auch soziale Netzwerke (Guanxi-Netzwerke) in China als Folge sozialer Unsicherheit (Netzwerke geben den Betroffenen Sicherheit) als weitere Ursache anzusehen, wenn Guanxi-Netzwerke als illegale Austauschbeziehungen verstanden werden, weil sie auf die Erzielung von Macht und privaten Vorteilen abstellt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es die soziökonomischen Faktoren Chinas (Wirtschaftsethik und Soziales Kapital bzw. Guanxi-Netzwerke) vorzustellen und die Einflussmöglichkeit dieser Faktoren im Kontext mit der Korruption auf die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit hin zu untersuchen. Dafür ist es sinnvoll, empirische Studien heranzuziehen.

This volume is a collection of 14 conference papers discussing India's development story around the three themes of sustainable development goals (SDGs), agricultural productivity and sustainability, and climate change - mitigation and adaptation.
