Zaheer S: Tafsir Ishraq Al-Ma'ani
(Volume 2) - Surah 4-6

Tafsir Ishraq Al-Ma'ani (Volume 2) - Surah 4-6

[A Quintessence of Quranic Commentaries]

The Chapter of the Chambers: A Guided Study of S¿rah al-¿ujur¿t
S¿rah al-¿ujur¿t is one of the most profound chapters of the Noble Qur'¿n, offering timeless guidance on faith, character, and the etiquette that governs a righteous society. Though brief in length, it lays the foundations for a believer's relationship with All¿h Almighty, His Beloved Messenger ¿, and the wider Muslim community.

In The Chapter of the Chambers, Mufti Sayyid ¿Abdul ¿amad al-Q¿dir¿ presents a clear and engaging verse-by-verse study of this remarkable s¿rah, drawing upon the insights of the classical scholars while making its lessons accessible to contemporary readers. From reverence for the Messenger ¿ and the importance of verifying information, to resolving disputes, guarding the tongue, avoiding suspicion and backbiting, and understanding the true measure of honor before All¿h, each passage highlights practical guidance for daily life.

Grounded in the rich heritage of traditional Sunni scholarship, this work draws from authoritative works of tafs¿r, prophetic narrations, and the explanations of the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah, enabling readers to appreciate both the meanings of the verses and their enduring relevance.

Whether studied individually, in classrooms, or within study circles, The Chapter of the Chambers serves as both an introduction to S¿rah al-¿ujur¿t and a practical guide to cultivating reverence, sincerity, brotherhood, noble character, and piety.

Written in an accessible yet scholarly style, this volume is intended for students of knowledge, teachers, and general readers seeking a deeper understanding of one of the Qur'¿n's most transformative chapters.

The Chapter of Chambers

Islam began as a call to conscience-the Qur'an spoke of justice, mercy, and human dignity long before anyone wrote a legal code. As the Muslim community grew into an empire, however, jurists, religious legal scholars, built a vast system of law to govern daily life. Over centuries, that system stopped looking like one interpretation among many. It became sacred. Final. Untouchable.
When Jurists Ruled the Faith asks a direct question: What happens to a religion when human legal decisions are treated as though they came from God?
Dr. Mark A. Gabriel traces how obedience to inherited law gradually replaced the freedom to reason and act on one's own conscience-not because Muslims chose obedience over morality, but because the system left little room for anything else. The result was a civilization in which law regulated worship, family life, commerce, criminal justice, warfare, gender relations, and relations with non-Muslims, often through claims of divine authority mediated by jurists.
Drawing upon Islamic history, Qur'anic interpretation, jurisprudence, and modern human-rights thought, this book examines how juristic authority became embedded in Muslim institutions and why meaningful reform continues to face resistance.
This is not an argument against Muslim faith or against Muslims. It is a serious examination of the human institutions that claimed the power to speak in God's name. By distinguishing revelation from the legal structures later built around it, When Jurists Ruled the Faith opens a path toward intellectual honesty, moral responsibility, freedom of conscience, and genuine reform.

The Fragrance of Jasmine in the Virtues of the Ummah¿t al-Mümin¿n presents a structured and textually grounded study of the lives, virtues, and scholarly significance of the Mothers of the Believers-the noble wives of the Prophet Müammad ¿. Drawing directly upon Qur'¿nic verses and authenticated ä¿d¿th, the work situates their status within the broader framework of Islamic law, ethics, and prophetic guidance.
The manuscript begins by establishing the elevated rank of the Ummah¿t al-Mümin¿n, as affirmed in the Qur'¿n, where their position as "mothers of the believers" is articulated alongside their unique legal and moral status. It proceeds to examine their distinction, including the prohibition of marriage to them after the Prophet ¿ and their role within the Ahl al-Bayt .
A central feature of the work is its juristic reflection on the wisdom behind the Prophet's marriages, highlighting their role in the transmission of domestic, legal, and social aspects of the Sunnah. The text further outlines their collective virtues-purification, elevated rank, and moral excellence-before presenting detailed biographical accounts of each of the Mothers of the Believers. These accounts combine lineage, historical context, and their individual merits, supported by textual evidence.
The work also explores their contribution to the preservation of Islamic knowledge, particularly through the narration of ä¿d¿th and the dissemination of legal rulings. Their role in shaping early Islamic legal understanding is presented as foundational, especially in matters pertaining to family law, worship, and ethical conduct.
Scholarly in tone yet accessible in structure, this volume serves as both a historical record and a juristic reflection on the Prophetic household. It concludes with a synthesis of their lives, emphasizing their enduring relevance as models of piety, knowledge, and ethical discipline.
This work is suited for students of Islamic studies, researchers in Islamic law and history, and institutional libraries seeking reliable, text-based studies on the Ahl al-Bayt and the development of the Sunnah tradition.

Islam and the Earliest Muslims: Two Conflicting Portraits presents a structured examination of the formative Islamic era through the lens of revelation, Prophetic guidance, and the historical character of the first Muslim community. Written by Mawl¿n¿ Sayyid Abul Hasan ¿Al¿ Nadw¿, the work explores the foundations upon which Islam claims universality, permanence, and guidance for humanity.
The book begins by identifying essential prerequisites for a universal religion: miraculous guidance, the distinction between Prophets and political empire-builders, the preservation of divine scripture, and the necessity of a singular source of religious authority. These themes are examined through Qur¿¿nic evidence, historical testimony, and observations concerning the earliest generations of Muslims.
A substantial portion of the work focuses on the transformative effect of Prophetic guidance upon the ¿ä¿bah, presenting their moral character, devotion, integrity, and social conduct as historical evidence of the success of the Prophetic mission. The author draws upon Muslim and non-Muslim testimonies, historical reports, and classical sources to illustrate the distinctive nature of the earliest Islamic community.
The volume further discusses the preservation of the Qur¿¿n, the doctrine of Khatm al-Nubuwwah (Finality of Prophethood), the role of guidance in Islam, and contrasting theological portrayals of early Islamic history. Throughout the work, arguments are framed through textual evidence, historical analysis, and juristic reasoning rather than polemical rhetoric.
Of particular importance is the author's effort to compare differing presentations of Islam against the historical record, encouraging readers to examine the earliest Muslim generation through documented evidence and the primary principles of the faith.
Suitable for scholars, students of Islamic studies, academic libraries, researchers of Islamic intellectual history, and readers seeking a deeper understanding of the formative period of Islam, this volume offers a thoughtful study of religious authority, scripture, communal formation, and the ethical legacy of the earliest Muslims.
Grounded in historical sources and classical Islamic scholarship, the work contributes to the study of Islamic belief, Prophetic guidance, and the development of the first Muslim society within its historical and textual context.

Islam and the Earliest Muslims - Two Conflicting Portraits

Tafsir Ishraq Al-Ma'ani (Volume 5) - Surah 21-28

Islamic Law in Context

Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿa and Intergenerational Justice

Governance of Common Resources and Islamic Law

By exploring the historic development of marriage laws and changing relationship norms in England, Qatar and Australia; the legal treatment of religious-only unions in light of the family law regime in each country, and the impact of non-recognition, this book reveals the complexities of the law reform needed to tackle these issues. This examination of the differing outcomes for couples who live in England/Wales where cohabitants have no legal rights, Australia where cohabitants do benefit from some legal protections, and Qatar, a Muslim majority state with a modern family law regime which ordinarily recognises religious marriages provides a broad canvas for exploring this issue in depth. The book looks at this very complex issue from a range of perspectives including autonomy, cultural transitions and legal pluralism. It examines the issue of religious-only marriages in order to convey the complex and interwoven narrative which signifies how multifaceted law reform must be in order to adequately respond to these transitioning relationship norms in any given jurisdiction. Of course, relationship norms are not static and they continue to evolve. In light of changing norms and practices, the theoretical framework for this book focuses on the concept of 'liminality' or transition, which is being witnessed in the processes and formalities by which Muslims are entering their marriages.

Muslim Marriages in Transition

This book presents a critical and philosophical analysis of Islamic law (Sharia), focusing on its legal structure. The work argues that Islamic jurisprudence should be understood as a human interpretive endeavour, shaped by its historical and social contexts rather than as a fixed divine code.
The book is organised into two chapters and a conclusion:Chapter One presents the foundational perspectives on Islamic law, examining both traditional and rational approaches and clarifies their practical implications.
Chapter Two offers a critical reassessment of the traditional concept of Islamic law, arguing that it no longer adequately addresses the complexities and challenges of the modern world.
The conclusion synthesises the key findings and proposes a new interpretive framework for understanding and applying Islamic law in today's context.

Concept of Islamic Law - Foundations of Sharia Philosophy

Tafsir Ishraq Al-Ma'ani (Volume 7) -Surah 40-59

Drawing from the profound insights and timeless reflections of Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, The Life of Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) presents the Prophet not merely as a historical figure, but as a living model of faith, wisdom, compassion, patience, and moral excellence. Through a deeply reflective and accessible narrative, this book explores how the Prophet Muhammad transformed the course of human history-not through worldly power or coercion, but through truth, character, perseverance, and complete trust in God.

More than a conventional biography, this work invites readers to understand the spiritual, intellectual, and civilizational significance of the Prophet's mission. It highlights the enduring relevance of his example in a modern world searching for meaning, justice, peace, and moral clarity.

Written by the renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Wahiduddin Khan and translated into elegant English by Prof. Farida Khanum, this edition serves as both an introduction for new readers and a source of deep reflection for serious students of Islam.

A timeless portrait of the Final Prophet whose message continues to illuminate hearts across generations and civilizations.

The Life of Muhammad (PBUH)

Foundational Principles Regarding the Science of Hadith presents a systematic introduction to the terminology and methodological principles by which Muslim scholars transmitted, examined, classified, and evaluated Prophetic reports.
Shaykh Muhammad bin Alawi al-Maliki begins by distinguishing between Ilm al-Hadith Riwayah, the transmission of reports attributed to the Prophet ¿, his Companions, and the Tabiin, and Ilm al-Hadith Dirayah, the analytical discipline concerned with the condition of narrators, chains of transmission, and transmitted texts.
The volume introduces the principal categories employed within classical hadith scholarship, including Sahih, Hasan, Daif, Marfu, Musnad, Muttasil, Mawquf, Maqtu, Munqati, Mudal, Mursal, Muallaq, Musalsal, Gharib, Aziz, Mashhur, Mutawatir, Muanan, Mubham, Mudallas, Shadh, Munkar, Mudraj, Maqlub, Mudtarib, Muallal, Matruk, and Mawdu.
Particular attention is given to continuity of transmission, narrator uprightness and precision, irregularity, hidden defects, competing narrations, and the rulings attached to different categories of reports. The work also examines Sunnah, Hadith al-Qudsi, methods of transmission, fabrication and its identification, and the relationship between hadith classification and legal evidence.
A concluding chapter introduces major Imams of Hadith and their works, including Malik ibn Anas, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasai, and Ibn Majah. An appendix addresses the scholarly manners associated with transmitting and reciting Hadith.
Written as an introductory manual, the book is suitable for students of Hadith, Islamic law, classical Islamic studies, seminary curricula, university courses, researchers, and specialist libraries seeking a structured guide to the foundations of classical hadith methodology.
