Sociality and Digitality

An Exploration of New Forms of Digital Social Connection and Belonging in Africa

A book about Indian life, inherited behaviour, emotional confusion, family politics, authority, ambition, guilt, language and all the strange things people here quietly accept as "normal."Told through observations, stories and deadpan honesty, In Other Words looks at the country not politically or academically, but personally.Somewhere between humour and discomfort, this book asks a very simple question:how much of who we are was actually chosen by us?

Notes on unlearning a country

In Other Words

This book invites a reorientation of tourism towards accountability, restorative practices and social impact This book examines the dominant profit-driven paradigms that have traditionally underpinned tourism development. By bridging theory and practice, this book challenges conventional industry perspectives and advocates for a more sustainable and socially conscious approach to tourism development. It invites readers to question long-held assumptions, confront uncomfortable truths and engage with emergent ideas and practices that are pushing the boundaries of what socially responsible tourism can and should be. Through insightful case studies and empirical research, this book equips readers to rethink the social impact of tourism and demonstrates that profitability and accountability are not contradictory objectives but mutually reinforcing dimensions of resilient and regenerative tourism systems.

Beyond Profits

Rethinking Social Impact and Accountability in Tourism

Die deutsche Wiedervereinigung jährte sich zuletzt zum 35. Mal.
 In
 Postwendekinder

Postwendekinder

The Ghrits (Ghirths) of the Kangra Valley form one of the most distinctive communities of the Western Himalaya, recognised since 1848 for their unique physiognomy and their concentration in the Kangra hills. Popular belief traces their ancestry to the ancient Traigarta of the Mahabharata, a claim emotionally compelling yet historically unverified.
This book re-examines these narratives through a rigorous and interdisciplinary lens. Drawing on history, sociology, linguistics, physiognomy, inscriptions, oral traditions, art forms, and occupational patterns, it reconstructs an evidence-based account of the origins and evolution of the Ghrit identity.
Beyond questions of ancestry, the work offers a vivid portrait of Ghrit life and culture, exploring their beliefs, customs, festivals, artistic traditions, social values, and changing occupations. At a time when urbanisation and shifting aspirations are distancing younger generations from their roots, this book serves as both a scholarly study and a cultural archive, enabling the Ghrit community, especially its urban members, to reconnect with a heritage that is gradually fading from collective memory today.

When every road was barricaded by bullets and betrayal, they carved a path through fire. In the shadow of dictatorship and on the brink of annihilation, a new generation of Rwandans chose the unthinkable-not for glory, not for conquest, but for survival and the hope of dignity restored. Option Z: The Last Road to Freedom tells the epic, harrowing, and ultimately triumphant story of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF)- from exile and despair to a disciplined liberation movement that dared to reclaim the soul of a broken nation. Through vivid accounts of key battles, secret negotiations, international indifference, and unyielding resolve, this book traces the final chapters of Rwanda's darkest hour-and the light that emerged from its depths. Blending history with human testimony, strategy with sacrifice, and memory with meaning, Option Z is more than a military chronicle-it is a tribute to courage, unity, and the moral clarity of choosing justice when silence seemed the safer path. "This is not just the story of a war-it is the anatomy of a people's last hope, told with clarity, compassion, and fierce conviction." Whether you're a student of history, a seeker of justice, or simply drawn to stories where human will defies impossible odds, Option Z: The Long Road to Freedom offers an unforgettable window into the soul of Rwanda.

The Unfinished Accord

The very title speaks of the contents of the book. It quoted the Codes [ Verses] of "Manu-Smriti" - translated in English and presented subject-wise, with small comments- here and there. This book also tried to find out from the Rig-Veda, the sequence of development of the State Policy to physically kill the people of war-defeated IVC Indians, alienated their land, cities, killed most people like- what Spanish people did to eliminate the people of Aztec Civilisation, and colonised Latin America, but in India, after preliminary physical killing and taken over the defeated people's land and cattle -prudently kept alive those Have-nothing common pre-Aryan citizens to work for the owner-settlers- to work for them as slaves, with Zero Human Rights. From the Vedic word " Dasa" the more inclusive word " Shudra" was cointed by Manu-Smriti, and followed by Indian Hindus till date.

Routledge Studies in Religion and Politics

The Politics of Catholic NGO Networks asks 'Who speaks for the Catholic Church during a humanitarian crisis?' and answers that there is no single voice; only a plurality of Catholic actors whose relationships with the Holy See differ sharply, and whose humanitarian work is shaped as much by internal organisational dynamics and Church politics as by the crises they respond to.This book offers the first comparative study of three of the world's most significant Catholic humanitarian networks: the Caritas confederation, the Jesuit Refugee Service, and the Community of Sant'Egidio, through drawing on over thirty interviews and extensive fieldwork in Rome and the Vatican. Each network occupies a distinct status (dependent, semi-dependent, and independent organisations) in relation to Church hierarchy, producing strikingly different approaches to assisting refugees and forced migrants. Moving between the internal governance of the Church and the external landscape of secular humanitarianism, the book exposes a persistent and more nuanced "religious literacy gap" among UN agencies, donors, and NGOs working alongside faith-based partners. Combining an interpretivist, practitioner-informed methodology at the intersection of IR, religion, and humanitarianism, Dr Intropido directly engaged with diplomats, humanitarian workers, and Church officials, offering both a new theoretical account of religious actors in world politics and a practical checklist for anyone partnering with Catholic humanitarian organisations. The Politics of Catholic NGO Networks will be essential reading for students and scholars of religion and politics, international relations, sociology and anthropology of religion, humanitarian, development, and migration studies, and for practitioners navigating the increasingly visible role of religion in global affairs.
