 Ein Münchner Galerist wird tot in seiner Wohnung aufgefunden - von seinem Freund. Dreiundzwanzig Jahre hat die Beziehung bestanden: Jahre bewegter Liebe und künstlerischen Austauschs, Jahre in Luxus und Armut, Jahre der Trauer um die ringsum Sterbenden, Jahre der Angst vor dem eigenen Tod und der unbändigen Lebensfreude. Hans Pleschinskis "Bildnis eines Unsichtbaren" erzählt von der Lebenswirklichkeit einer Generation, die angetreten war, mit den bürgerlichen Tabus zu brechen, und deren neues Selbstbewusstsein durch Aids einen mörderischen Tiefschlag erfuhr. Bildnis eines Unsichtbaren

"Sarrasine" gehört zu den faszinierendsten Texten in Balzacs Menschlicher Komödie: eine Geschichte versteckt in einer anderen;
Gestalten, die nicht sind,was sie scheinen; ein schillerndes Vexierspiel von Schönheit und Täuschung, Liebe und Sexualität,
Wirklichkeit und Kunst.
Die vornehme Pariser Gesellschaft hat sich oft gefragt: Woher kommt der ungeheure Reichtum der Familie de Lanty? Die abenteuerlichsten Gerüchte umgeben vor allem jenen mysteriösen, geisterhaften Greis auf dem luxuriösen Ball, der durch seine extreme Magerkeit, seine altmodische, feminine Koketterie alle Blicke auf sich zieht.
Sein Geheimnis jedoch ist verborgen in einer ganz anderen Geschichte: Viele Jahre zuvor reist der junge Bildhauer Sarrasine zur Ausbildung nach Rom. Beim abendlichen Theaterbesuch packt ihn unsterbliche Liebe zu Zambinella, der Primadonna, deren engelgleicher Sopran ihn verzaubert. Seine Leidenschaft bleibt nicht unbemerkt - doch spielt Zambinella wirklich nur mit ihm, als sie ihn zurückweist und ihn warnt, sich ihr nicht zu nähern?
Sarrasine, 1830 erschienen, wurde erst spät entdeckt, provozierte dann aber die gewagtesten Interpretationen, beginnend mit Georges Bataille und Roland Barthes' berühmter Studie S/Z. Elisabeth Edl - wie bereits in ihren Ausgaben von Stendhal, Flaubert, Maupassant, George Sand - verfolgt einen anderen Weg: Mit Übersetzung, Nachwort, Zeittafel und Anmerkungen geht sie wieder zurück zu Balzac und seinem Text, der aufregender ist als alle nachträglichen Spekulationen.
