Ottoman Provincial Society and the Waqf of Jerusalem, 1703-1831

This study analyzes Jerusalem's Ottoman-era waqf networks (1703-1831), revealing how elite monopolization of waqf offices and assets mediated state-society relations. Through court records, it demonstrates waqfs' dual role as economic foundations and tools of local governance, while exploring intercommunal dynamics in urban space.
