Relational Economics and Organization Governance

This book examines the structure of university knowledge production as publications. Offering an in-depth case study on a medium-size Italian university, it explores networks of collaboration by evidencing the relationship between internal and external authors, their productivity, and the role of team size taking also a longitudinal perspective.
This book investigates also partner’s selection mechanisms in terms of institutional and disciplinary, gender, and academic role proximity. The pathologies of contemporary scientific practice, such as large team size, are discussed within a broad interdisciplinary theoretical landscape.
The book shows that knowledge is produced locally and transferred globally by constituting a multi-layer Glocal Invisible College, rooted in a model of single universities made by three subsystems loosely connected.
Researchers, university administrators, and policymakers alike will find this work invaluable. For researchers, it provides a replicable methodology that combines network and statistical analysis, while for university governance and policymakers the insights gained from this analysis can inform strategies to enhance collaborative efforts and improve research outcomes.

Palgrave Studies in Race, Ethnicity, Indigeneity and Criminal Justice

The edited collection gathers contributions from across the world and engages in constructive debate about fundamental issues regarding Indigenous peoples in connection with issues of crime and harm. It provides the most diverse and global coverage of this topic across five continents. Existing explorations of Indigenous peoples in relation to issues of crime and harm have proven valuable in challenging, decentring, and renewing criminology. Yet, this research area remains at the margins of criminology, and many fundamental questions—such as the meaning of ‘being Indigenous’—await deeper exploration. Key themes explored by the book include: the meaning of Indigeneity; Indigenous epistemologies, Indigenous cosmologies, and their implications for the study of crime; the meaning of ‘crime’ for Indigenous peoples; causes, consequences, and types of crimes and harms against Indigenous Peoples; Indigenous peoples and gender; Indigenous systems of justice; and Interactions between Indigenous Peoples and state criminal justice systems. This collection does not seek consensus but reflects diversity and depth. It offers an introduction to Indigenous criminology and fundamental concepts, as well as a series of case studies and more intricate theorisation.David R. Goyes
is a researcher at the University of Oslo, Norway, with a PhD in criminology. He has contributed extensively to the study of North-South global relations, environmental conflicts, and Indigenous issues. Goyes is editor-in-chief of the
International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy
and a member of several editorial boards.
Angie Cuchimba
is a researcher at the Universidad Antonio Nariño, Colombia. Cuchimba holds a law degree from the same university. She is an Indigenous leader in the Nasa Community and has represented her People worldwide in diverse meetings. Together with Goyes, Cuchimba has published articles about Indigenous rights and justice in some of the best journals in the world.

Many people remain unaware of the scale and urgency of Africa’s food crisis, in part because current

policies fail to capture its full complexity. This crisis is shaped by a tangled web of natural and human-

made factors, and without a comprehensive, systems-level approach, meaningful solutions remain out

of reach. Tackling this involves concentrated policies that go beyond technical fixes—it demands

coordinated efforts that bridge sectors, disciplines, and national borders.

Using the metaphor of the Gordian Knot to underscore just how intricate and entrenched the problem

has become, this book examines environmental and climatic challenges. The first section of the book

includes chapters dealing with the natural factors for the crisis, and the second section will encompass

chapters addressing human-made factors, such as political, economic, and social drivers. Each chapter

includes targeted policy recommendations grounded in current research.

Weaving together interdisciplinary research and analysis, the book offers actionable insights and

opportunities to address the manmade and environmental problems, furthering the food crisis in Africa

today.
Judith Irene Nagasha
is a Senior Lecturer at Kyambogo University in Uganda. Equipped with a PhD in gender and climate change, she is the lead collaborator for the translating science into policy and practice Agrifose 2030 project for young researchers in Africa, supported by the Swedish International Development Agency. Nagasha is spearheading the milk and fisheries value chain and marketing systems projects in Uganda. Her research focuses on the gender perspectives in food security, climate change, and indigenous knowledge.
Abdul Karim Bangura
is the putative dean and senior mentor of the CODESRIA College of Mentors Institute. He has 5 PhDs in the following fields: development economics, political science, linguistics, computer science, and mathematics. Bangura is the innovator of more than a dozen theories and research methodologies.

Socioeconomic Effects of the Food Crisis in Africa

Is shrimp becoming Ecuador's new oil – and at what cost? Valerie Lenikus uncovers the political-economic drivers and the socio-ecological implications of extractivism: how export-led aquaculture has razed mangroves, displaced coastal livelihoods, and sharpened struggles over land and natural resources. Based on the Latin American debate on extractivism, historical conditions and inequalities, and the controversial constitution of 2008, the complex power relations on different spatial levels are depicted, linking the central role of the state and its policies with concrete struggles of communities.
