Migrants and Refugees in Europe
This open access edited volume offers an examination of the European Court of Human Rights’ jurisprudence on the rights of migrants and refugees. Focusing on landmark judgments of the past decade, the contributions explore how the Court has shaped the protection afforded to migrants and refugees under the European Convention on Human Rights. Bringing together scholars, legal practitioners and civil society experts from diverse geographical backgrounds, the volume combines legal analysis with perspectives informed by first-hand engagement with the Court’s jurisprudence and its practical consequences. Many of the contributors have been directly involved in litigation, third-party interventions or legal advocacy concerning the issues examined. At a time when migration and the European human rights system are subject to legal and political scrutiny, this volume provides an assessment of the developments, tensions and unresolved questions in the Court’s jurisprudence on the rights of migrants and refugees.
