Diese Ausgabe wurde ohne thematischen Schwerpunkt zusammengestellt. Die Beiträge befassen sich u.a. mit dem Motiv der Einsamkeit im Werk Remarques, seinen eigenen Versuchen als Zeichner und seiner Beziehung zu Natasha Paley. Ein Vergleich der Antikriegsprosa Remarques mit den Werken von Lewis Grassic Gibbon, die Diskussion in Osnabrück zum Film 'Im Westen nichts Neues' um 1930 und der Zusammenhang von Remarques Roman 'Im Westen nichts Neues' sowie den Werken Felix Nussbaums aus den 1920er Jahren bezogen auf die Neue Sachlichkeit vervollständigen den Band. Die im vorausgegangenen Jahrbuch begonnene Reihe der Werkstattgespräche wird mit der Death-Metal-Band SCALPTURE fortgesetzt.

This issue was compiled without a specific thematic focus. The contributions deal, among other things, with the motif of loneliness in Remarque's work, his own attempts as an illustrator, and his relationship with Natasha Paley. A comparison of Remarque's anti-war prose with the works of Lewis Grassic Gibbon, the discussion in Osnabrück about the film "All Quiet on the Western Front" around 1930, and the connection between Remarque's novel "All Quiet on the Western Front" and Felix Nussbaum's works from the 1920s in relation to New Objectivity complete the volume. The series of workshop discussions begun in the previous issue continues with the death metal band SCALPTURE.

Allerdings ist unser Eindruck, dass sich strömungsübergreifend meist nur punktuell, vor allem wenn es brennt, mit Repression und Knast auseinandergesetzt wird. Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) wissenschaftshistorisch und kulturwissenschaftlich interpretiert - dieser Ansatz von Annelore Rieke-Müller eröffnet neue Deutungsmöglichkeiten, die seine Bilder und deren Rezeption stärker als bisher in seine Zeit und sein persönliches Umfeld einordnen. Er erlaubt inhaltliche Neuentdeckungen und einen genaueren Blick auf die Entwicklung seines Werkes. Friedrich wird so als Künstler erkennbar, der die dynamische Ganzheit der Natur und der Welt insgesamt erfassen und darzustellen suchte, der seine Kunst unbeirrt in den Dienst künstlerischer und gesellschaftspolitischer Ideen stellte. Seine suggestive, auf Grundsätzen der romantischen Naturforschung beruhende Malerei machte ihn für seine Zeitgenossen zum Genius. Mit dem Niedergang dieses Forschungskonzeptes verlor sein Werk jedoch an Aktualität.
