Englische AusgabeDas Dresdner Residenzschloss ist seit dem 16. Jahrhundert ein Ort glanzvoller Bälle, Maskeraden und Rituale politischer Macht. In den wiedererstandenen Festsälen präsentiert die Rüstkammer Kunstwerke, die zu den kostbarsten Zeugnissen europäischer Festkultur gehören. Im Großen Ballsaal erinnern die Sonnenmaske Augusts des Starken, Silberharnische, fantasievolle Inventionsinsignien sowie Pferde mit prächtigen Reitzeugen und einem mit hunderten Schellen besetzten Schlittenzeug an grandiose Festinszenierungen. Im Propositionssaal stehen die Zeichen der Macht im Zentrum: Wo 1831 die erste Verfassung Sachsens ausgerufen wurde, werden Insignien vom Kurfürstenhut über den Krönungsmantel bis zu Orden und Büsten der sächsischen Monarchen gezeigt. English editionSince the 16th century, Dresden’s Royal Palace has been a venue for glittering balls, masquerades, and rituals of political power. In the restored banquet halls, the Rüstkammer (Armoury) presents works of art belonging to the most precious relics of European festive culture. In the Großer Ballsaal (Great Ballroom), the sun mask of Augustus the Strong, silver armour, imaginative insignia, horses with sumptuous riding equipment, and a sleigh decorated with hundreds of bells are reminders of magnificent festive celebrations. Symbols of power take centre stage in the Propositionssaal (Proposition Hall): Insignia ranging from the electoral hat and coronation mantle to medals and busts of Saxon monarchs are on display in the place where Saxony’s first constitution was proclaimed in 1831. Virtual reality is a technique of interfacing which connects diverse bodies, objects and spaces, thereby mediating between different art forms and modes of experience.&nbsp;This feature also calls for a methodological interfacing of different disciplinary perspectives. The contributors to this volume examine how VR is employed in contemporary art with regard to its technical potential, its aesthetic qualities, and the imaginations it evokes. They highlight the use of VR as a ¿world within a world,¿ ranging from encapsulated artificial environments to transitions into familiar lifeworlds. By bringing together theoretical perspectives from art history, media and game studies, this volume provides crucial analysis of selected artworks and expands the critical engagement with a contemporary art form and media practice.

Durch den Transfer des literaturwissenschaftlichen Begriffs auf die Bildenden Kunst wird eine Befragung des Begriffs Paratext vorgenommen. Die formale Umkehr von Text und Paratext akzentuiert, was sich als Subtext durch diese Veröffentlichung zieht: die verschwimmende Grenze zwischen Text, Kontext und Paratext - ohne jedoch die Differenzen zwischen diesen Felden auflösen zu wollen. &nbsp;

Dieser Band nimmt die 22 Empfehlungen in den Blick, die das Panel bislang ausgesprochen hat.
