 (2024). He holds a PhD from the European University Institute and is a qualified lawyer, with extensive experience at a Band 1 international law firm.
 Federica Agostini
 is Assistant Professor in Economic Law at Utrecht University and Research Affiliate at the University of Glasgow. Her research examines how law shapes capital markets and sustainability transitions. She has advised institutions including the ECB and EBRD and publishes widely on corporate sustainability and financial regulation.
 Konstantinos Serdaris
 is Assistant Professor of European Economic Law at Utrecht University. He holds a PhD from the European University Institute and is a qualified lawyer. His research focuses on EU financial and capital markets law, and he is the author of the book&nbsp;
 Regulating Primary Markets in the Capital Markets Union
 (2025).

Critical Perspectives on a Novel Body of Law

EU Corporate Sustainability Law

Foreign Direct Investment has been a major topic of discussion among economically disadvantaged nations. This book examines FDI regulation in weak economies to assess whether it is balanced. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between FDI regulation and sustainable development, with a particular focus on the relevant laws, practices, systems, and organisations governing entry regulations and incentives for foreign investment, as well as the protection of the environment and human rights, with special attention to labour rights, involuntary displacement, and the protection of both investors and the state in which they invest.

Regulating Foreign Direct Investment for Sustainable Development

The lives of the world's poorest are already harder, hotter, and shorter, thanks to the actions and emissions of the world's richest. But just as the rich world's emissions are finally falling, emissions from poorer countries are set to increase drastically. We seem to be caught in an impossible bind-but it's not too late to find a way out. In Just Economics, renowned economists Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo (co-recipients of the 2019 Nobel Prize), and Michael Greenstone propose a radical new approach to combatting the climate crisis, arguing that climate deterioration is inseparable from our polycrisis of mass migration, political instability and the resurgence of populist nationalism.
