Master's Thesis from the year 2025 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Recruiting, grade: 1,2, University of Applied Sciences Dortmund, language: English, abstract: This master's thesis explores the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern recruitment processes with a particular focus on applicants' trust. As digitalization and AI increasingly transform the world of work, organizations are adopting AI-supported recruiting tools to enhance efficiency, standardization, and data-driven decision-making. At the same time, the use of AI in personnel selection raises important questions regarding transparency, fairness, and acceptance from the applicants' perspective.

The objective of this thesis is to examine how applicants perceive AI-assisted recruitment processes and which aspects are relevant for the development of trust in this context. To address this research objective, a qualitative research design was chosen. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants who had either experienced AI-supported recruitment processes or reflected on their expectations toward such processes.

The empirical data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis following Kuckartz' approach. This method allows for a systematic examination of subjective perceptions, attitudes, and evaluations, while combining theory-driven and data-driven coding. The analysis focuses on applicants' experiences with different forms of AI usage in recruitment, their expectations toward human and technological decision-making, and their assessment of AI-supported processes within the broader candidate journey.

By linking theoretical concepts of trust in technology with empirical insights from applicants, this thesis contributes to the growing body of literature on AI in recruiting. In addition, it provides a structured foundation for further academic research and offers valuable insights for organizations seeking to better understand applicant perspectives on AI-supported recruitment processes.

Artificial intelligence in the recruitment process. How can companies gain applicants' trust?

Most composition textbooks begin with skills like thesis writing and paragraph structure. This one begins with a person. Writing as Self-Design is a transformative textbook in which students examine control of information and discover their agency in meaning-making. Informed by neuroscience, rhetorical theory, digital literacy, and composition pedagogy, this book challenges students to question how meaning is made, filtered, and constrained in the digital age, and to develop their unique voices through composition strategies that reclaim writing as an act of self-design. It is a book which responds to the technological landscape in which we find ourselves. The value of Writing as Self-Design will resonate well beyond the classroom, addressing the importance of the critical skills needed to navigate the "total noise" of our media-saturated lives, build personal definitions of success, and rediscover the creative cycle that leads to lasting happiness and fulfilment.

This book is the first investigation of the relationship between EU digital sovereignty and sustainability strategies. This open access book investigates the role played by copyright on the digitisation of cultural heritage from three angles: the theoretical differences between cultural property law and copyright; a comparative analysis of the EU, UK, and US; and analysis of current practices and concerns, based on empirical research. As heritage digitisation projects become increasingly common for purposes such as preservation and access, the impact of copyright is also becoming more problematic. In order to provide a full and current picture of the copyright problem, the book first introduces the reader to the debates on the scope and ownership of cultural heritage and provides an overview of the copyright implications of the digitisation process and newer uses, including 2D and 3D scanning; virtual and augmented reality; text and data mining; and artificial intelligence. The author then divides the main critical analysis into three parts, referred to as the 'clashes with copyright'. The first, clash in theory, lies between cultural property law and copyright justification theories. The second clash is in the different legal approaches to digitising in-copyright, public domain, orphan, out-of-commerce and unpublished works in the chosen jurisdictions, focusing on the relevant rights and defences. The third clash is in the interests of stakeholders, based on public reactions to existing projects and cases, supported by interviews with heritage professionals engaging in digitisation. By placing itself in this particular intersection of law, heritage, and technology, the book will be of interest to both intellectual property academics and cultural heritage professionals.
