Die Texte des Bandes tragen zu einem Konzept der Sozialethik bei, das von Marianne Heimbach-Steins als kontextuelle theologische Sozialethik beschrieben wurde.

Was diese Kontextualität bedeutet und wie sie das Suchen nach der Gerechtigkeit sozialer Verhältnisse prägt, wird in den Beiträgen dieses Bandes deutlich. Sie nehmen die Kontextualität der Sozialethik und die Forderung der Interdisziplinarität als Aufgabe an. Kontextualität stellt sich dabei auf verschiedenen Ebenen als etwas Unterschiedliches dar. Research in Creative Writing

An investigation into the powerful effects occurring at the threshold between articulation and inarticulation in original and translated works, this book models how creative writing research, practice, processes, products and theories can further academic thought. At the threshold of in/articulacy, language can be said to 'thicken' and obscure the usual conditions of legibility or lexical meaning, becoming unfamiliar, flexible, incomplete, even absent. These 'thickening' moments alter and enrich literary processes and texts to initiate a paradigm shift in composition, translation and reading experiences. Interrogating this shift from the viewpoints of writers, translators and readers, Judy Kendall draws on translation studies, literary theory, anthropology, philosophy and physics and more to examine the practices of Semantic Poetry Translation, code-switching, made-up English, visual text, vital materiality and the material-discursive. Breaking new ground with her enactment of the ways in which creative writing can take an active and productive lead in research enquiries, Kendall looks at works including Old English riddles, Nigerian novels, J R. R. Tolkien's and Ursula K. Le Guin's narratives, Caroline Bergvall's hybrid works, Caryl Churchill's The Skriker, Patrick Chamoiseau's novels, Zong! and several other visual texts.

Inarticulacy in Creative Writing Practice and Translation

Stealing Horses presents arguably the finest considerations yet of the origins of the First World War. Breaking with accounts which focus on the actions of a single state or the final countdown to hostilities, Paul W. Schroeder describes the systemic crisis engulfing the Great Powers. They were more interested in colonial plunder overseas ('stealing horses to great applause', in the old Spanish adage) than the traditional statecraft of European peace-making. Preserving the balance of power required preserving all the essential actors in it, including a tottering Austria-Hungary. This the British in particular failed to recognise. The Central Powers may have started the War but that does not mean they in any real sense caused it. In the end Schroeder recalls the verdict of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: 'All are punished'. Stealing Horses includes appraisals of Niall Ferguson and A. J. P. Taylor, and an extensive unpublished final paper re-thinking the First World War as 'the last 18th-century war'. God's Philanthropist examines the worldview and philanthropic aspirations of the investor turned philanthropist, Sir John Templeton (1912-2008). Drawing on his books, essays, interviews, and occasional works, it reconstructs what Templeton believed people's lives, and the societies in which they lived, should look like, and investigates the philanthropic means by which he hoped to turn those ideals into reality.
