Wer bezahlt den Umweltschutz?

There is broad consensus in our society that more must be done to protect the environment. Yet there is disagreement about how the associated costs should be distributed: no one wants to pay for environmental protection voluntarily. In recent years, numerous instruments have been developed in the hope of achieving a fair allocation of these costs. This interdisciplinary volume examines these new measures from both scholarly and practical perspectives. The contributions set out the economic foundations of task financing and analyse new governance instruments from a legal perspective. They identify further potential for improvement in existing instruments and present ideas for new, innovative tools. The book makes an important contribution to upcoming debates on fair cost distribution-extending beyond the realm of environmental protection.
