Der weit gefasste Begriff des Kollektivs tritt an die Stelle der traditionellen Gruppen- und Gesellschaftskonzepte und macht bisher verborgene Schichten menschlicher Gemeinschaftlichkeit zugänglich. Heft 11/2 widmet sich der Rolle von Kollektivität in einem von individueller Genialität geprägten Feld: der Kunst. Anhand von Chören, Jazz-Bands, Musikfestivals, dem Kollektiv ruangrupa, Designmoden, Filmen und Architekturkonzepten gehen die Beiträger*innen der Frage nach, welche besonderen Herausforderungen die kollektive künstlerische Kooperation birgt, wie diese Kooperation künstlerisch adressiert wird und was sich bei ihrer Reflexion über Kollektivität im Allgemeinen erfahren lässt.

This book delves into Scotland's evolving food system, uncovering the challenges of change, tracing food policy progress since devolution in 1999, and envisioning bold strategies for the next twenty-five years.Food system transformation is a key global challenge for this century. This challenge is evident in Scotland where plentiful food co-exists with food insecurity, where food waste appears intractable and farm animal welfare is compromised, and where the food system in its current form is incompatible with meeting national and global goals for climate and nature. Written by a food policy insider, this book discusses what a single country can do to tackle these problems and contribute to wider change. The book is grounded in a right-to-food perspective, and describes both the necessity of, and the opportunity for, a repurposing of the food system from a focus on commodity production and trade to a focus on nutrition equity and environmental restoration. It challenges some of the faulty maps still in use which are a poor guide to food system change, such as the idea that Scotland's priority is to feed the world, that food redistribution has a significant impact on either waste or poverty, or that educating people to make better choices is an effective strategy. It argues for more assertive governance of Scotland's food system, both by national and local governments using the new duties set out in Scotland's 2022 Good Food Nation Act. This should include active engagement of civil society, in keeping with the Scottish approach of collaborative policymaking. An Introduction to the Soviet Legal System (1969) sets the main features of modern Soviet law against their background in Russian legal history and Marxist political thought. Criminal Procedure and Family Law are considered in detail, as are Trade Unions and the settlement of Labour Disputes. Special features of the Soviet legal system such as the legal position of the State Bank, collective farms and the state-controlled commercial and industrial enterprises are examined. The final chapter is devoted to the work of the Soviet legal profession.

An Introduction to the Soviet Legal System

This book provides an in-depth analysis of the reintroduction and recovery of the Mexican wolf in the American Southwest, with a particular focus on the role of the Federal judiciary. Edward A. Fitzgerald contends that federal courts have played a critical role in facilitating the species' return, primarily through their interpretation of statutory law - most notably, the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The courts rejected challenges from the livestock industry, reaffirmed Federal authority over the recovery process, and struck down certain Federal regulations that hindered effective wolf management. However, Fitzgerald argues that the judiciary also made significant missteps. Federal courts upheld revised Mexican wolf management regulations and recovery plans that failed to meet the ESA's requirement to rely on the "best available science." Additionally, the courts issued inconsistent rulings concerning the construction of border barriers. While they blocked the Trump administration's unauthorized transfer of funds for wall construction, they repeatedly and erroneously upheld the Secretary of Homeland Security's waiver authority. This authority permitted border wall construction to proceed in violation of Federal, state, and local laws - actions Fitzgerald claims exceeded statutory limits and violated the nondelegation doctrine. Providing a comprehensive and detailed examination of the legal challenges surrounding the Endangered Species Act and the recovery of the Mexican gray wolf, this book will be of interest to legal scholars, policymakers, and conservation advocates.

In challenging Eurocentric histories and accounts of international law, this book introduces an alternative history of pre-independence India.Western scholars trace the genesis of international law to Europe. However, scholars from the Global South trace the history of international law to different civilisations of the world existing since ancient times. They argue that European narratives are not sufficient to explain the true history of international law and that the history of international law should shed itself of its Eurocentrism and adopt a multi-civilisational perspective, according to which local and national histories can contribute towards a truly global history and in so doing enhance the legitimacy of international law. Taking up this perspective, the author traces the history of key elements of international law - such as diplomacy, trade and war - in and to pre-independent India. As Grotius himself acknowledged, in taking his cue from the practices of Asian States whilst arguing for the freedom of the seas, the author thereby elicits the contribution made by India, among other Global South nations, to the evolution and development of international law.The History of International Law in India is an alternative account of the history of international law and will appeal to scholars and students in the areas of legal history, international law -especially Third World approaches to international law - and South Asian Studies.
