Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) is a conservation approach designed to ensure that any development or land-use change results in a measurable increase in biodiversity compared to the baseline conditions prior to the project. The Internet of Things challenges many of the dichotomies which have shaped current laws: goods-services, hardware-software, tangible-intangible, online-offline. The book focuses on 4 specific challenges: things-as-service, liability, bricking of physical devices through software control, and the potential for enhanced personalisation, especially for digital assistants. The chapters analyse specific applications such as smart homes, connected cars, and consumer wearables with a view to providing innovative solutions to the new challenges posed by the Internet of Things, and to steer the development of the Internet of Things in a fairer direction. As well as offering an important analysis of the potential for smart consumer laws in the Internet of Things, the book also provides important insights into the growing divergence between Germany's and the UK's consumer laws since Brexit. With particular focus on more-than-human experience, this creative-critical book explores the role of literary storytelling in representing and communicating the oceanic environmental crisis.While investigating the creative potential of scholarship in material ecocriticism and the blue humanities, this book not only examines the theoretical tools needed, but also develops the poetic and creative role of scholarship in imagining a livable oceanic future. To overcome anthropocentric views of nature, it argues that a fluid and more-than-human literary form is needed. This is developed in the book as a 'jellyfish poetics': a literary structuring device based on the jellyfish life cycle. The book not only theorises this new form, but also enacts it, presenting original and innovative research that embodies a synthesis between creative and scholarly approaches. The wider project of which this book is a part, set out to investigate the constitutional structures of the EU Member States. As part of this comparative enterprise this work sheds light on the intricate interconnections which exist between Member State governments and their national parliaments. Although in many cases governments only exist and function as a consequence of parliamentary support, it is the executive that is usually the focal point of political life and that sets the nation's political course and drives forward its legislative agenda. Arguably, this perception is based on the political customs that surround government/parliament relations rather than the constitutional fundament upon which they are built. This book therefore provides an in-depth analysis of how these two institutions, the executive and the legislature, relate to one another from a constitutional law as well as a constitutional politics perspective.
