SDG - Forschung, Konzepte, Lösungsansätze zur Nachhaltigkeit

Fachkräftemangel wird gewöhnlich als eine Gefahr angesehen, gegen die wenig gemacht werden kann. Tatsächlich aber ist der Mangel selbstverschuldet und lässt sich durchaus abstellen. Der Schlüssel dazu heißt – in Übereinstimmung mit den Sustainable Development Goals der UN - Inklusion. Am Beispiel der (überdurchschnittlich gut ausgebildeten) 7,9 Mio. deutschen Schwerbehinderten wird analysiert, zu welchen – oft kontraproduktiven – Überlegungen die heutigen Randbedingungen bei Arbeitgebern und Arbeitnehmern führen. An mehr Inklusion hindern uns jedoch oft Vorurteile und die Bilder, die wir mit Schwerbehinderten verbinden. Erkenntnisse der Sozialpsychologie zeigen uns, wie wir das angehen können. Der Fachkräftemangel ist also auch eine große Chance: Er kann zu mehr Inklusion führen und diese wiederum wird unsere Wettbewerbsfähigkeit steigern und in Zukunft unseren Wohlstand sichern. Hiervon werden viele Randgruppen profitieren, z.B. Ältere oder Migranten. Volkswirtschaftlich ist Inklusion ein großer Vorteil.

Veronika Dolar is Associate Professor in the economics department at Pace University. She was born in Slovenia, which was within Yugoslavia. Dolar obtained her international baccalaureate in Italy at the United World College of the Adriatic and went on to graduate summa cum laude from Western University. She earned a PhD in applied economics from the University of Minnesota.&nbsp;
Teresa Perry is Assistant Professor in the economics department at California State University, San Bernardino. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with an undergraduate degree in economics and later obtained a master’s degree in economics from Colorado State University. Perry earned a PhD in economics from Colorado State University.

This book provides a comprehensive account of the achievements of the economic regions set up in France after the First World War. It identifies exactly how they operated, as well as critical success factors such as effective leadership. Some recent historians have taken a very negative view of the part played by these regions in economic development. This new study instead argues that they made a significant contribution and laid the foundations for the regions created in France after 1945. The key areas which they identified: transport, power generation, and technical education, have remained the preoccupations of regional governments in France and elsewhere to this day. The author covers the needs of commerce and industry, but also agriculture and tourism. Based on fresh research using a wide range of primary sources, this book will appeal to economic historians, economists, and geographers, as well as historians with a particular interest in France.
Terence Cudbird gained his doctorate from the University of Oxford in 2019 and is an Associate Member of the History Faculty there. He published an article on the French regions in French History in 2023.

This book examines the constitutional treatment of national security in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. These four states share their Commonwealth heritage and are members, alongside the USA, of the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance. The book takes a comparative approach to the institutions through which, and tools with which, these four states seek to protect their national security against the threats of both terrorism and hostile state activity and how they have evolved over time. It identifies and examines the various specialised institutions, inside and outside of legislatures, which have grown up to oversee the exercise of public power for national security purposes while maintaining the required secrecy. It argues that the extent of the borrowing and sharing between these jurisdictions in the domain of national security, now and in the past, permits us to talk about a Commonwealth model of national security constitutionalism.

This book examines the influence and strategic efforts of the Comintern, the agency created in 1919 by Lenin to promote world revolution, during the Spanish civil war. The author explores how Soviet actors took control of the War Commissariat and the Republican Government’s foreign radio broadcast service, in order to craft and diffuse an interpretation of the conflict that would serve Soviet foreign policy interests. This effective infiltration and control, contrary to a significant scholarly consensus, was not an accidental by product, but the result of careful planning and execution. Challenging dominant interpretations of the Spanish Civil War, the author reveals how the Comintern's internal assessment of the nature of the war was in fact, in stark contrast with the evolving public narrative it promoted from July 1936. Rather than a genuine effort to combat fascism and ‘defend the democratic republic,’ the strategy of the Soviet government in the Spanish Civil War was specifically designed to drive a wedge between capitalist and 'imperialist' powers, thereby hindering the formation of a much-feared 'all-imperialist, all-capitalist' military alliance against the USSR. With chapters delving into key topics such as the manipulation of public narratives, the strategic deployment of propaganda, and the construction of memory, this book presents new insights for scholars of the Spanish Civil War, the Soviet Union, and collective memory studies.
