The Story of Greyhound's Scenicruiser

Based on Paul von Fange's monumental book, Scenicruising: The Greyhound Scenicruiser Story, this book focuses on Greyhound's wildly successful bus, the Scenicruiser. Built by GM from 1954 to 1956, these 1001 coaches took the American public by storm. Traveling in air-conditioned and air suspension-comfort with panoramic windows everywhere (and a rest room!), these buses were in high demand. Based on what was learned with two prior experimental prototypes, they began with two 4-cylinder diesel engines coupled together which caused all sorts of excitement when needing to run on just one engine. A complete refurbishing and rebuild in the early 1960s saw the changeover to a single 8-cylinder diesel engine which propelled them for millions of miles during their remaining 15 years of service. And then, they went on to new lives elsewhere!
