Christian Hornung examines "spaces" in ancient Christianity. Against the background of the spatial turn , he analyzes literary descriptions of the ecclesiastical building complex (including the church, bishop's house, and annexes) as well as synods, monasticism and the so-called public space and interprets "spaces" as forms of ecclesiastical staging and representation.
