Seekabel bilden die kritische Infrastruktur für das Internet und den Energietransport im Meer. Das Werk stellt erstmals umfassend den heutigen seevölkerrechtlichen Rahmen für die Freiheit zur Verlegung von Seekabeln dar.
Dabei wird die Verlegefreiheit zunächst inhaltlich definiert. Sie umfasst Tätigkeiten im Zusammenhang mit der Verlegung und dem Betrieb von Seekabeln wie auch den Schutz von Seekabeln als dauerhafter Infrastruktur. Darauf aufbauend wird mittels zonenbasierter und allgemeiner Grenzen erklärt, wie die Verlegefreiheit mit anderen Meeresnutzungen auszugleichen ist. Insbesondere wird ein praxisnaher Ausgleich mit den küstenstaatlichen Vorrechten über den Festlandsockel und die AWZ vorgeschlagen.

The Greek Code of Private Maritime Law, the first English-language translation of Greek Law 5020/2023, which radically overhauled the Greek Code of Private Maritime Law, was painstakingly translated and edited over the course of 2023.


The purpose of this publication is to clarify the Greek legal system for international investors, entrepreneurs and legal practitioners in the shipping industry, providing them with a thoroughly research translation of the entire text of the law rather than piecemeal Articles or the gist and main points.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sunyana Sharma is a barrister at 3PB. She practises in health and safety, inquest and professional disciplinary law and has specialist knowledge in the areas of maritime and fisheries. She regularly represents the MCA, IFCA, masters, fisherman, companies and individuals as part of her maritime and fisheries practice and her cases have taken her as far as the Falkland Islands. She was called in 2006, is Head of the Inquest team at 3PB and is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. She sits part time as an Assistant Coroner and Deputy District Judge.
