This two-volume set provides insights not only into issues of criminology, but also criminal justice issues that are generally not at the forefront of Caribbean scholarship, for example, remand detention and the Caribbean Court of Justice. This volume focusses on crime, crime trends and criminal justice reform whereas volume II focusses on intersectionality, justice, and vulnerable populations. Using a diverse approach, and tackling topics including, food fraud, human trafficking, gender-based and domestic violence, climate change, and agro-terrorism, these books fill an existing lacuna in the context of specific issues plaguing Caribbean criminological and justice landscapes in the region.

The peripheries of Chinese cities often comprise diverse residential communities, such as urban villages, workers' dormitories, privatised work-unit compounds, and new commodity housing estates, where local residents and migrants from different backgrounds coexist in a transition period. Chinese migrants now have more housing choices within such areas, but residence in specific neighbourhoods can affect social status, thereby impacting migrants' pathways to integration into the city. This book offers a detailed examination of migrants' integration processes through these peri-urban neighbourhoods.
 Drawing on a rich and fine-grained examination of migratory individuals, their families, and their trajectories in four types of peri-urban neighbourhoods, the book provides a new perspective on internal migration within China. It illuminates

A Neighbourhood Perspective to Migrant Integration in Peri-Urban China

This book offers practical and systematic tools for understanding the controversial dynamics of de-radicalization and extremism in the context of global terrorism. Since 2010 there has been a sharp increase in the number of extreme jihadist groups around the world. A surge in right-wing radicalization marked by hate speech and anti-immigrant anxieties has also been noted. States have subsequently sought to develop approaches to counter these groups, with variable success. While some countries have been relatively successful in countering radicalization, others have seen an increase in the number of terrorist attacks. Using comparative analysis, this book examines the controversial subject of de-radicalization as a tool of the state in modifying political behaviour. Drawing on multiple country case studies, it assesses how governments around the world use counter-terrorism policies and measures, be it through policing, the judicial process, state-sponsored programs or community approaches, to address extremist radicalization. It also considers how effective these policies have been in modifying extremist forms of behaviour, and why some countries have been more successful than others. It will appeal to scholars and students of public policy, international human rights, international relations and counter-terrorism studies.
