This book deals with advanced issues relating to the empirical and scientific study, development and evaluation of offender profiling as an applied method for use in police investigations of homicide. It outlines the main psychological principles upon which offender profiling is based, including classification of criminal behaviour and behavioural change and consistency. The book builds on this by focussing on methodological questions relating to classifying crime scene behaviours related to homicide, linking crime scene behavioural types to offender characteristics, and linking serial homicide offences. Thoroughout the book the author is concerned to demystify erroneous ideas of what profiling is, to explain what it can offer to homicide research and investigations and to map out where the future lies in terms of key theoretical questions and practical research.

The EEA Agreement extends the four freedoms (persons, goods, services and capital) to Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It provides for equal conditions of competition and abolishes discrimination on grounds of nationality. The EFTA Court, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, has jurisdiction over parties to the Agreement. This jurisdiction corresponds to that of the Court of Justice of the European Union over EU Member States in matters of EEA law. Why do nation states participate differentially in International Environmental Agreements (IEAs), and how can we achieve greater international environmental cooperation through enhanced participation in IEAs? Drawing upon the basic tenets of Realism and Liberalism, and using regression analyses, this study presents the Incentives-Capabilities model for explaining state participation in IEAs. The model highlights the importance of both IEA design and state capabilities to engage effectively in international environmental cooperation. While there may be domestic structural constraints that limit a state's capability of ratifying an IEA (e.g. low human development, high foreign aid dependency, high levels of corruption, etc.), the design of IEAs, through a proper structuring of incentives, may make ratification a choice that furthers the national interest of the state, and thus result in successful participation. This book theorizes international environmental cooperation based on the concepts of an international system structured by global interdependence and interconnectedness, and through national interest calculations built on the twin objectives of enhancing domestic capabilities (through resources transfer or market advantage, for example) as well as maintaining development trajectories. A key policy outcome of this study is that effective global environmental protection is premised upon strategies for furthering human development, equity, and sustainable development.
