"We are living in what might be considered a 'carceral world'. Practices, performances, spatialities, imaginaries, and experiences of incarceration are widespread. Carceral Worlds offers a necessary and timely contribution to understanding these realities of our globalized present. This book explores the evolution of sovereign wealth funds in Africa and their increasing significance for facilitating transaction-based economic development. How sovereign investment can address sustainable economic growth, infrastructure development, and sovereign debt reduction is presented.

Innovations in sovereign investment based on climate finance solutions, asset recycling and monetization, overcoming donor gaps in social sectors, capital markets products, and mobilizing co-investment funds from commercial institutions are also highlighted. This edited volume examines the legal and economic world of the Romans through concepts, structures, and objects that reveal practices of standardization and localism. It explores the myriad ways in which the Roman Empire became an integrated political, social and economic system. &nbsp;Split across two volumes, the collection addresses the dynamic interaction between Rome and its provinces in developing institutions crucial to societal and economic development.&nbsp; It challenges notions of uniformity, demonstrating how tensions between imperial standardization and local cultures could both drive innovative legal and economic practices and hinder empire-wide integration. The chapters explore broad questions from various disciplinary perspectives, including ancient economic history, law, papyrology, epigraphy and archaeology. Contributions cover diverse topics such as weights, measures, and coinage, legal practices, taxation, and cultural symbols. She has a PhD in Roman law and a second PhD in roman archaeology. She has published extensively on Roman law and its maritime and commercial focus. Koenraad Verboven is professor&nbsp;of Ancient History at the University of Ghent.&nbsp; He specializes in ancient social and economic history, and has a particular interest in monetary history and numismatics, friendship and patronage based networks, professional associations(collegia), and the application of economic theories in historical research.

This book focuses on reflexivity as applied to entrepreneurship in the countries of the Global South. Specifically, reflexivity represents a sociological notion designed to explain the structures of human beliefs; however, its usefulness in business and entrepreneurial frameworks is a gap to be filled.The incorporation of reflexivity into entrepreneurship studies provides an inclusive overview of the psychological aspects inherent to nascent entrepreneurs as well as their attitudes, thought processes, values, assumptions, prejudices, and habitual actions.&nbsp;Divided into sections on theory and practice, the text considers the fact that entrepreneurs in the Global South benefit from distinctive and diverse institutional peculiarities in contrast to the nations of the Northern Hemisphere. This group of particularities is strongly influenced by historical, political, cultural, and economic factors.&nbsp; These factors have historical roots manifested in the role of government, the collaboration between companies and universities, the choice to use a language, the development of cultural heritage, and ethical values.&nbsp; These combined factors and particularities have contributed to the presence of problems such as corruption, inequality, and political instability, as well as geopolitical challenges that are beginning to appear given the rise&nbsp;of international multipolarity.In providing an overview of entrepreneurship that is divergent from the traditional Western approaches, this work offers new, more holistic perspectives that consider subjective contextual and social factors to understand the complexity inherent to entrepreneurship to analyze the realities of the Global South, therefore expanding the knowledge and opportunities that lie ahead. Decolonizing Money presents an anarchist theory of money which sets out strategies for collective liberation beyond state and capital. 

Drawing on anarchist, abolitionist and anti-colonial feminist traditions, Julio Linares makes the heretical argument for a grassroots democratic movement to abolish the imperialist US dollar as a necessary step towards the cancellation of debt and establishing a worldwide basic income. Linares shows that money, beyond a store of value and a medium of exchange, is a series of promises a society makes to itself - and he challenges us to make them otherwise.
