'The Chairs. Status and Legal Position of Committee Chairs in the German Bundestag; with Consideration Given to the Chairs of the Mediation Committee and Parliamentary Oversight Panel': The thesis examines the (constitutional) legal requirements regarding the appointment and termination of office of Committee Chairs, as well as their rights and obligations. The focus is not only on the intra-parliamentary sphere of influence, but also on the extra-parliamentary state system. The resulting image is that of a ¿leading organizational office¿ whose powers are determined largely by the committee majority and are not suitable as instruments of parliamentary opposition.
