A practitioners' text providing a summary of the law as it relates to insurance claims, largely, but not exclusively, addressing claims against insurers and insurance brokers specifically aimed at those involved in the application of the law on a daily basis, whether as solicitors, barristers or insurance claims handlers. 

Explaining the meaning of terms and concepts in plain English making it accessible to lawyers and non-lawyers alike, the 5th edition is fully revised and updated taking account of all significant new case law, including those being appealed to the Court of Appeal.

In addition to important insurance case law caused by the Covid 19 pandemic ,eg Rockliffe Hall v Travelers Insurance Co Ltd, Stonebridge Pub Company v MS Amlin, Various Eateries Trading Ltd v Allianz, and Greggs plc v Zurich, where a range of issues have been decided, other significant cases analysed in the 5th edition in detail include:

- Berkshire Assets v AXA in relation to avoidance for breach of the duty of fair presentation under the Insurance Act 2015
- Quadra Commodities SA v XL Insurance Company SE in relation damages for late payment of insurance claims under s.13A of the Insurance Act 2015
- Jones v Zurich in relation to avoidance of an insurance policy under the Consumer (Insurance and Disclosure) Act 2012

In addition Chapter 17, Specific Types of Insurance , is expanded to include a new section on cyber insurance.

Multilateral environmental agreements have over the last four decades emerged as the preferred avenue to address inter-state environmental issues such as climate change. This book analyses the possibilities as well as the limitations of environmental treaty making between states. The book considers the structures and processes that lead to the successful adoption of the Paris Agreement - and contrasting them with other attempts that failed in bringing states together under a legally-binding solution. Christina Voigt explores the whole "life-cycle" of multilateral environmental agreements. Also emphasised is the impact of emerging economies in shaping international environmental regimes.

This book explores democratic development in Indonesia-the world's third-largest democracy after India and the United States. Through case studies, it looks at two rival versions of democracy-the republican form and the electoral form-and posits that electoral democracy is not sustainable without republican institutions, laws, and norms. In recent years, there has been growing instability in Indonesian democracy, with brutal fighting among political forces and deep polarization. This book contends that what needs to be explained is not the democratic decline in Indonesia but rather the deviant form of democracy that the country has been practicing since the fall of the military dictatorship. It is argued that in the last twenty-five years, Indonesia has practiced a Schumpeterian form of democracy with a heavy emphasis on election while neglecting the minimum threshold of a healthy republican form of democracy: political participation, equality of virtues, and the principle of nondomination. This book critiques the autonomy based theoretical foundations of the legal response to sexual offences. To do so it examines the legal treatment of incapacitated rape victims arguing that the autonomous foundations have created a hierarchal response that forces individuals to be responsible for avoiding harm. The book uses vulnerability theory in two innovative ways. It challenges the foundations of the autonomous liberal legal subject in sexual offences, and it suggests a new sexual offence based on a vulnerability lens. Through this understanding of vulnerability, it argues that an autonomy-based approach is at the core of the inadequate response to sexual assault complainants. It therefore encourages readers to rethink what we know about what it means to be human, how we view sexual offences, and how we treat incapacitated complainants. This book tackles the challenge of holdout creditor disruption of sovereign debt restructuring, where creditors reject collective agreements to pursue full loan recovery in domestic courts.Critically examining the contemporary statutory and contractual approaches to sovereign debt restructuring, the book presents their usefulness and limitations, including the potential major impact of the doctrine of merger in rem judicatam. It proposes the duty of good faith (which is generally implied under U.S law, implied in certain categories of contract under English law, and widely recognized globally) applied in the context of sovereign debt as a relational contract, as a robust legal approach to combating such disruptions in domestic courts. Through rigorous analysis of case law and treatises, the book argues that sovereign debt contracts are relational contracts, invoking heightened good faith and equity obligations.
