An Unforgettable Journey

I was born in 1948 in Montclair, New Jersey. I suppose you can call me a "Baby Boomer". I retired at age of 72 after a 49-year business career, including five years as a US Army officer. Throughout my life, I have witnessed many changes and events that have greatly affected me. I have shared many of my experiences and observations, and learned a lot. They were all a big part and parcel of my "incredible journey." This book takes the reader back to my roots, tracing my grandparents, my early years, high school, college, my military career, my life as a technology executive, and my work at one of the world's premier private equity firms, Insight Venture Partners. It also captures a wonderful "love" story I have been blessed to have and share with my bride, Jackie, and our two dear children. This book has, in an interesting way, been a catharsis, but equally important, a lifelong goal and aspiration. Many of the people whom I mentioned have helped shape and inspired me to write this book. I have always been passionate about my work and have never relied on "luck" to succeed. It was always about the hard work, the long hours, and the many wonderful people I met along this "unforgettable journey." There are several life lessons I hope the reader will take away that may make their life more inspiring, provocative, and meaningful. I attempted to "connect the dots" over the more than seventy-five years of my wonderful life. Through the glorious highs, humbling lows, triumphs, and setbacks, I hope the reader will find my "incredible journey" engaging, surprisingly unlikely, and utterly unimaginable - as I have.
