Quellen und Forschungen zur Braunschweigischen Landesgeschichte

Nach dem in 2024 erschienenen Band der Briefe der Herzogin Philippine Charlotte von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel aus den Jahren 1732-1768, im Band 59 der Quellen und Forschungen zur Braunschweigischen Landesgeschichte, folgen nun im Band 60 ihre Briefe aus den Jahren 1769-1782. Ein dritter abschließender Band mit den Briefen der Jahre 1783-1801 ist in Vorbereitung. Für alle drei Bände ist neben der Wiedergabe der französischen Briefe auch eine deutsche Übersetzung vorgesehen bzw. schon realisiert.

Der Historiker Hans Droysen (1851-1918) hatte die Briefauswahl vorgenommen und den ersten Band 1916 in den Quellen und Forschungen zur Braunschweigischen Geschichte als Band 8 veröffentlicht. Sein Manuskript für die beiden Folgebände kam nicht mehr zum Druck und wurde seitdem im Niedersächsischen Landesarchiv, Abteilung Wolfenbüttel, aufbewahrt. Die Originalbriefe befinden sich heute im Geheimen Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz.
