African Journal of Social Work Book 8

Volume 15 (2025)

Book 8 brings together the most recent complete volume of the journal. It reflects a field that is confident in its African foundations and engaged with its diaspora. Social development is prominent. Contributors examine community participation in managing protected areas and the role of community development workers in Ethiopia. They also look at women-run village community banks in Tanzania and the Ubudlelane philosophy as a communal approach to poverty alleviation. Another argues for building social policy on Ubuntu rather than adding it as an afterthought. Speeches from the Africa Day Indaba Australasia and the Pacific 2024 consider diaspora collaboration for development, education for the 21st century and the identity of African Australian youth. Other articles cover children's rights, child marriage, family reunification, adolescent pregnancy, palliative care, suicide prevention, parolee reintegration and social work regulation in Eswatini. The book is a wide-ranging resource for students, practitioners, researchers and policy makers.
