Bryan Taylor is President and Chief Economist of Global Financial Data (GFD). He received his Ph.D. in economics from Claremont Graduate University. He has taught economics and finance at numerous universities in southern California and in Switzerland. He began putting together the Global Financial Database in 1990, collecting and transcribing financial and economic data from historical archives around the world. Taylor has published numerous articles and blogs based upon the Global Financial Database, the GFD Equities, and the GFD Indices. Taylor’s research has uncovered previously unknown aspects of financial history. He has written two books on financial history.

This book focuses on a very important and still controversial topic in Japan, namely, whether a future exists for Japanese farmers, especially rice-producing farmers. Dealt with here is the prospect along with a personal view of the course that Japanese agriculture should follow, that is, a prescription for enriching the international competitiveness of the agricultural sector, especially rice production, in a more market-oriented economy. Toward restoration of Japanese agriculture, prescriptions are pursued from different aspects. One is the planting schedule of various farm products at the micro level such as the crop rotation system, derived from the mixed-integer dynamic programming model. Another is a macroeconomic policy to enhance the export of the restored 2 million tons of rice by the abolition of the policy of reducing rice acreage-a policy considered unreasonable by some. The path that agriculture in Japan should take has been argued by scholars and experts in related fields. However, no argument has been based on scientific and objective proof. Some applications of mixed-integer dynamic programming model are shown, which are very useful for policy makers as well as graduate students in the field of economic policy (esp. regional &amp; dynamics) and dynamic agricultural planning (esp. planting &amp; comprehensive management).

The rise of global alternate financial systems has spurred central banks into action, fast-tracking solutions like Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) from the concept to pilot stage in several countries.The rise in interest in CBDCs has been rapid and widespread - per the Atlantic Council's CBDC tracker, more than 95% of the global economy is considering the introduction of CBDC in some form. Although most of the world is interested in CBDCs, emerging markets have raced ahead in the implementation, pilots and launch of different models.This book covers the emergence of digital payments, cryptocurrencies, and CBDCs. When Okinoshima was placed on Japan's tentative list for World Heritage designation in 2009, an unprecedented amount of new research into the archaeological and historical materials associated with this exceptional complex of sites was generated. This book provides an overview and sample of this research, and explores the significance and impact that such a targeted program of research can have on understanding a potential World Heritage Site both archaeologically as well as in management terms. The tiny island of Okinoshima, which lies in the Genkai Sea off the coast of northern Kyushu in western Japan, is an extraordinary place that deserves wider recognition in both global archaeology and international heritage management. It is believed to have controlled the important shipping lanes between the Japanese archipelago and the Korean peninsula from the 4th to 10th centuries AD.The island is also notable for being surrounded by secrecy and taboo for it was the sacred home and embodiment of the three jealous Munakata deities (three sisters mentioned in ancient texts, latterly enshrined in the Munakata Grand Shrine and on Okinoshima). Most of the more than 80,000 objects known from archaeological investigations originally had been deposited as offerings to the Munakata deities between the 4th and 10thcenturies AD. All of these objects are now designated as National Treasures by the Japanese government.

This is the first book to present a new approach of institutional design as an evolutionary applied policy based on coherent conceptualization and methodology, and to study the actuality and implications of diversifying real/virtual community currencies. In contrast to a de facto standard theory, an institutional ecosystem can be composed of various institutions that continue to coexist with changing relative frequencies. In this view, diversified monetary institutions with local rules are feasible and realistic. Community currencies are worldwide attempts to redress such problems as financial instability, chronic stagnation, and decline of communities caused by globalization of the economy. Considering those alternative movements as a new type of policy, "evolutionist institutional design", this book clarifies the feasibility and significance of community currencies in the current era of globalization. The book also provides a better understanding than mainstream approaches of such platform institutions as money that determine fundamental means of cognition and action of interacting agents. Money is a symbolically generalized communication medium in the mesodomain that mediates between socioeconomic performance and patterns in the macrodomain and motives and cognitive frameworks in the microdomain. Conventional national systems of money and finance are platform institutions that determine basic replicators for a capitalistic market economy to evolve. In contrast, community currencies conveying both economic and social/cultural values are distinct platform institutions that are expected to endogenously change such basic replicators in outer and inner institutions for agents to a noncapitalistic market economy. These currencies are considered target institutions for "media design" in the framework of evolutionist institutional design.

Die Kostendiskussion muss daher weiter auf allen Ebenen des Gesundheitswesens vom niedergelassenen Arzt bis zum Krankenhaus, von der pharmazeutischen Industrie bis zu den Spitzenverbänden der Selbstverwaltung geführt werden, da die wirtschaftlichen Konsequenzen einer rationalen medizinischen Versorgung analysiert, kritisch diskutiert, bewertet und transparent dargestellt werden müssen.&nbsp;Es fehlt bisher ein Basislehrbuch der Medizin für Ökonomen, also ein Buch, das medizinische Inhalte auf das für Gesundheitsökonomen relevante Maß begrenzt und dabei versucht, medizinische Maßnahmen im Zusammenhang mit Kostenbewertungen zu veranschaulichen.&nbsp;Das wesentliche Anliegen des vorliegenden Buches ist daher die Verbindung ärztlichen Denkens und Handelns mit ökonomischen Überlegungen, da der Dialog zwischen Ökonomen und Mediziner nur auf der Basis gemeinsamen Wissens effizient geführt werden kann.
