Die Grundannahme: Jedes Tier hat das Recht auf Freiheit, Unversehrtheit und ein Leben ohne Ausbeutung. Diese Rechte gelten unabhängig davon, ob ein Tier für Nahrung, Unterhaltung, Forschung oder Tradition genutzt wird; insbesondere, wenn tierleidfreie Alternativen längst verfügbar sind.
Das Buch verknüpft philosophische Argumentation mit juristischer Präzision. Es beschreibt, wie sich Zoos in tierfreie Biodiversitätsforen umwandeln können, wie Zirkusse ohne Tiernummern eine neue Kunstform entwickeln und wie sich Ernährung vollständig ohne Tierleid organisieren lässt. Es fordert ein konsequentes Verbot der Haltung obligater Karnivoren als Haustiere und stellt gleichzeitig Strategien vor, wie heute lebende Tiere artgerecht versorgt und abgesichert werden können.
Die Vision ist radikal; doch der Weg dorthin ist machbar. Schröter zeigt, dass diese Transformation Jahrzehnte dauern wird, dass sie aber in klar definierten Schritten umgesetzt werden kann: mit Rechtsreformen, Institutionen wie Tieranwälten und Ombudsstellen, internationalen Abkommen, finanzierten Transformationsfonds und strengen Monitoring-Systemen.
Kapitel für Kapitel führt Tierrechte 2.0 durch moralische Grundlagen, rechtliche Kodifizierung, institutionelle Umsetzung und praktische Transformationsmodelle. Praxisfälle, Musterklagen und überprüfbare Indikatoren machen das Werk zu einem unverzichtbaren Handbuch für Politiker, Juristen, Aktivisten; und alle, die sich eine Welt ohne institutionalisierte Tierausbeutung vorstellen können.
Dieses Buch ist ein Appell, aber auch eine Bauanleitung. Es richtet sich an diejenigen, die bereit sind, nicht nur darüber zu sprechen, dass Tiere Rechte haben, sondern diese Rechte auch einzuklagen und umzusetzen.
Wer es liest, wird erkennen: Tierrechte sind keine ferne Utopie; sie sind ein Versprechen, das wir einlösen können. Die Frage ist nicht, ob wir es tun, sondern wann wir bereit sind, den ersten Schritt zu gehen.
