Who the hell is Broke-Ass Stuart? In the grand journalistic tradition of Ambrose Bierce and Herb Caen, for more than 20 years writer Stuart Schuffman has been chronicling life’s adventures as “Broke-Ass Stuart,” a San Francisco everyman perpetually scraping by, living paycheck to paycheck while working an astounding assortment of often surreal gigs and questionable “real” jobs. Among his escapades, he has served and knocked back cocktails in hundreds of seedy local bars, eaten an astonishing number of burritos with the best of ’em, traveled the world on someone else’s dime, and run for mayor of San Francisco, garnering 20,000 votes.
