Das vergangene viertel Jahrhundert hat gezeigt, dass sich die wirtschaftliche Lage Chinas extrem gewandelt hat. Die Wirtschaft ist in einem raschen Prozess enorm gewachsen. Eine zu schnelle wirtschaftliche Veränderung führt zwar zu mehr Wohlstand sowie zu mehr politischen und gesellschaftlichen Freiheiten für die Bevölkerungsmehrheit, bringt aber auch gravierende soziale und politische Konsequenzen mit sich: Soziale Destabilisierung und Ordnungsverlust sind im heutigen China vorzufinden.1 Diese sind u.a. durch die Umformulierung der Wirtschaftsethik im Rahmen der Wirtschaftsreformen nach 1978 und das daraus resultierende Anwachsen von Korruption verursacht. Im Zusammenhang mit der Korruption sind auch soziale Netzwerke (Guanxi-Netzwerke) in China als Folge sozialer Unsicherheit (Netzwerke geben den Betroffenen Sicherheit) als weitere Ursache anzusehen, wenn Guanxi-Netzwerke als illegale Austauschbeziehungen verstanden werden, weil sie auf die Erzielung von Macht und privaten Vorteilen abstellt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es die soziökonomischen Faktoren Chinas (Wirtschaftsethik und Soziales Kapital bzw. Guanxi-Netzwerke) vorzustellen und die Einflussmöglichkeit dieser Faktoren im Kontext mit der Korruption auf die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit hin zu untersuchen. Dafür ist es sinnvoll, empirische Studien heranzuziehen.

This book reassesses classic Marxist theories of finance capital and uneven development in the context of the present intensified process of financialization and the accentuation of combined and accelerating uneven development. In particular, the work of Hilferding and Luxemburg is discussed and re-framed in light of both the contributions of Marx and more recent engagements by David Harvey and Neil Smith. The book explores the case of South Africa in particular in light of the combination of a rapidly financializing yet crisis-ridden South African political economy on the one hand and intensifying social inequality and political conflict on the other.&nbsp;It explores a series of strategies and possibilities that might open up trajectories for change and transformation with particular attention paid to the promises and constraints of the de-growth movement and intersectional class struggle, which will appeal to political economists, researchers, and students alongside those studying South Africa specifically. Patrick Bond is a political economist and professor at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He spent more than two decades teaching at the Wits University School of Governance in Johannesburg and the University of KwaZulu-Natal Centre for Civil Society in Durban. During the late 1980s he pursued doctoral studies in economic geography at Johns Hopkins University, while learning politics in the anti-apartheid, labour, student and community movements. In 1994 and 1996, he worked in the Reconstruction and Development Ministry in President Nelson Mandela’s office, drafting the democratic government’s first White Paper and a dozen other major policy documents. He appears more than 100 times a year on South African and international broadcast media, and usually gives more than 50 guest lectures annually.

It explores their socio-economic background, the major factors that led to their incarceration, the nature of their crimes, the problems that women inmates and their children face inside the correctional homes, and their dealings with the judiciary.
Using a mixed methods framework, this volume helps us to understand how multiple hegemonies can affect the offence done by a particular woman. Through inmate interviews, this book provides a window into their struggles and decisions. The narratives contain rich information on their motives and ‘modus operandi’ and produce data on how the ‘self’ is constructed by reflecting upon the complex nature of values, identities, cultures and communities of the inmates. The analytical framework further challenges positivism in contemporary criminology. Advancing feminist criminological agendas, this book aims to help influence the creation and implementation of public policy to improve the conditions of female inmates in correctional homes in countries like India.
