Patipolitics looks at what it means to enjoy the body under technocapitalism, arguing that we need a new paradigm to talk about sexual enjoyment and suffering. It is not just biological life (biopolitics), nor even political death (necropolitics) that has power, but also regimes of enjoyment. In simple terms the paradoxical, ambivalent and traumatic realm of the sexual: a deadly enjoyment that demands satisfaction yet cannot be sated. This is Patipolitics, from the Latin patior- to suffer, which for psychoanalysis is also to enjoy.

The body is governed by a dizzying array of institutions: the family, social media, religion and the culture industries. These sites provide contexts for enjoying the body such as: self-image, object choice, identification, erogenous zones, taboos, codes of sexual morality, inhibitions, violence, and bodily abjection. But it is the ways in which these modalities are harnessed by apparatuses of power which makes them patipolitical.

After highlighting the destructive and oppressive elements of patipolitics, the book elucidates the positive and generative dimensions to the patipolitical. The female body and its place in the masculine imaginary obscures a genuine enigma about the sexual body and power. Ultimately if patipolitics is to be affirmative as opposed to destructive we must ask what alternative future it can help us to imagine?

It critically discussing the evolution of the libertarian spirit in the USA, which was born and developed in the 1960s and merged in the last three decades into a libertarian ideology, based on individual freedom, antistatalism and the primacy of the spirit of the self-made man. Examining how this transition was functional, on the one hand, to high-tech digital innovation and, on the other, to the spirit of new platform capitalism. Andrea Fumagalli suggests that the process of capturing the libertarian spirit for capitalist purposes, which represents one of the clearest examples of "life subsumption", the acknowledgment that the life of individuals at the very moment that it triggers processes of social cooperation is a potential source of subversive behaviour, and how this can turn into a powerful tool for today's capitalist valorisation.

Bringing together Michel Foucault's aesthetics of existence and Richard Shusterman's somaesthetics, this volume provides a critical comparison of two of the most influential philosophical theories of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Focusing on the concept of slowness in Gilles Deleuze's philosophy, this book diverges from the conventional interpretation of Deleuze as a philosopher of speed or even accelerationism, instead delving into the minor but critical themes in his works, from idiocy to catatonia. Advocating for a pragmatic reading of its source material, it utilises Deleuze's thought to address the urgent challenges in contemporary political and social philosophy, particularly the issue of acceleration in its subjective, socio-political, and ecological dimensions. The first part discusses the significance of analysing "slowness" and introduces the problem of social acceleration, featuring also the relationship of Deleuze's thought with theorists rarely invoked in Deleuzian scholarship, such as Martha Nussbaum or Hartmut Rosa. Using a wide range of examples and sources such as the lesser explored Deleuzian literary inspiration Heinrich von Kleist and Madame de La Fayette, the second part of the book delves deeper into the three manifestations of slowness in Deleuze's philosophy: the conceptual personae of the idiot, the animal, and the catatonic.
