Perspektiven der Designforschung

Practice-integrating design research is currently in the process of institutionalizing itself as a scientific branch of research, which, however, exhibits parallels to other applied sciences with respect to the role of practical action and the hermeneutical application of theory. Using case studies from doctoral and third-party research, Dagmar Steffen traces the potential ensuing from the productive relations between researchers' artistic self-practice, reflection, and theory building. Furthermore, design experiments also add a significant contribution to the acquisition of scientific knowledge along with the communication and implementation of research results.
