Non-Terrestrial Networks

Paving the Way Towards Global Connectivity

Inhalt

There has been a recent focus on non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) in the Third Generation Partnership Project’s (3GPP) work in developing 5G technologies with the recent Rel-17. Non-Terrestrial Networks: Paving the way towards Global Connectivity presents technologies that are important for NTNs - from LEO satellite communication, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)/flying platforms assisted wireless networking through to the use of machine learning, edge computing, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, multiple access, wireless backhaul/fronthaul, integrated access and backhaul, integrated sensing and communications, and high frequency channel modeling such as terahertz, sub-terahertz and millimeter wave. These technologies are essential in providing a paradigm shift from current wireless standards and will usher in the development of exciting new vertical frameworks. Non-Terrestrial Networks: Paving the Way Towards Global Connectivity gives students and researchers in academia an understanding of the fundamentals, technologies, systems and techniques for the next generation NTNS. It gives industry engineers insight into the interdisciplinary findings on many open issues and trends in NTN standardization.
