Muggestutz and Raurinde, who live in a cave under the Mühlefluh, are facing a difficult situation. Can the crystal, named Karfunkel, which Muggestutz gave to Raurinde as a gift, help them now? On one, fine autumn day they awaken, not in their beds, but in the middle of an alpen meadow, in the mountains. And Strangely enough – they had very similar dreams. What mischief do the midget elves, the evil moor gnomes who live along the high moor, have in mind? Will Muggestutz and Raurinde be able to reach the Bannwald forest in seven days? Will they be able to fulfil the wishes of the Gauli witch? The path through the high moor, over Balisalp and along the wild stream leading into the Bannwald forest is full of dangers. Luckily, they have their dwarf friends and other helpers.
Based on the book, there is a path that continues the dwarf’s journey on Mägisalp in the Berner Oberland of Switzerland. In the middle of natural surroundings, it offers children, as well as adults, the opportunity to discover anew the beauty of nature and enter, for a short time, the mythical realm of the dwarves and other creatures of fables.
