In diesem Band wird erstmals die teils nur noch fragmentarisch erhaltene Korrespondenz Gronemanns rekonstruiert und dadurch sein extensives Beziehungsnetzwerk erschlossen. Unter den Korrespondenzpartnern befanden sich bedeutende Politiker, Schriftsteller und Künstler, darunter u.a. bekannte Zeitgenossen wie die Zionisten Theodor Herzl, Max Nordau, Heinrich Loewe, Chaim Weizmann und David Ben-Gurion, oder die Schriftsteller Arthur Schnitzler, Richard Beer-Hofmann, Kurt Tucholsky, Else Lasker-Schüler, Arnold Zweig, und Shaul Tchernichovsky. Außerdem stand er in Kontakt mit den Künstlern des jiddischen Avantgardetheaters Wilnaer Truppe sowie des späteren hebräischen Nationaltheaters Habima, zu deren erfolgreichen Werdegang Gronemann maßgeblich beitrug. 
 
 Die Kommentare der vorliegenden Ausgabe erschließen das bisher unveröffentlichte Archivmaterial kritisch und kontextualisieren es in der zeitgenössischen und geisteswissenschaftlichen Rezeption.

Sammy Gronemann (1875–1952) is considered one of the foremost Zionist writers of German. This volume is the first to explore Gronemann's correspondence and, through it, his far-reaching network of relationships. His correspondents included important politicians, writers, and artists, such as contemporaries Theodor Herzl, Richard Beer-Hofmann, Albert Einstein, and Theodor Heuss.

Die Vorlesungen zur Praktischen Theologie gehören zu den Hauptwerken des bedeutenden Theologen und Philosophen Friedrich Schleiermacher (1768-1834). Schleiermacher gilt als Urheber der Praktischen Theologie als wissenschaftlicher Disziplin. Nach seinen eigenen Worten ist die Praktische Theologie die Krone des theologischen Studiums. Als Endzweck der theologischen Wissenschaft bündelt sie den Stoff der theologischen Einzeldisziplinen und hält ihn zusammen: Religions- und Christentumstheorie, Exegese, Kirchengeschichte und Dogmatik, Ästhetik und Pädagogik, pastorale Praxis und auch Fragen zur Kirchenverfassung und Kirchenpolitik; letztere stellen als "Theorie des Kirchenregiments" einen eigenen Hauptteil der Disziplin dar. Zwischen 1812 und 1833 hielt Schleiermacher zehn praktisch-theologische Vorlesungen; in ihnen schlagen sich auch seine langjährigen Erfahrungen als Prediger, Seelsorger und Kirchenpolitiker nieder. Im Rahmen der Kritischen Gesamtausgabe liegen die praktisch-theologischen Vorlesungen hier erstmals in einer kritischen Edition vor: sämtliche Manuskripte Schleiermachers sowie sechs umfangreiche Nachschriften verschiedener Vorlesungsjahrgänge.

The Lectures on Practical Theology are one of the main works by important theologian and philosopher Friedrich Schleiermacher (1768–1834). This is the first critical edition of the lectures as part of the Critical Collected Works. It includes all of Schleiermacher’s manuscripts as well as six extensive sets of transcripts from different academic cohorts. Schleiermacher is considered the inventor of practical theology as a scholarly discipline.

Hans Urs von Balthasar's work has had an increasingly significant impact on theology of 20th century. This anthology of Balthasar's writings seeks to encourage readers to take the tour of the 'Balthasarian Cathedral' by employing an architectural metaphor, which is based on Balthasar's own depiction of his thinking. 

The cathedral trope enables readers to locate and engage his works and key themes without losing a sense of the whole. It also provides a blueprint for the structure of Balthasar's thought as a tool to position his writings in order to grasp the breadth and depth of his thinking. So, while the anthology only serves as an introduction by laying out the cathedral floor plan, glancing momentarily at several prominent features, and suggesting extended tours and excursions that require more time and contemplation, it is hoped that patrons will turn these into longer, more sustained gazes of Balthasar's theology. 

This book is enhanced by the inclusion of original source texts and summaries of key ideas, designed to engage with the reader as they survey Balthasar's work. Perhaps, then, the seeds of this anthology will bear the fruit of sustained, critical engagement at a depth indicative of the man himself. Welcome to the tour!

This book fills a gap in religious studies literature by providing a historical study of Black gospel music in Britain. While Black gospel music is a global phenomenon that evolved in many places, including the Caribbean, America and Europe, many still look to America for an understanding of its origin. Dulcie Dixon McKenzie challenges this approach, asserting that there is no universal, 'one-size-fits-all' historical account of Black gospel music. Instead, McKenzie offers an alternative to the American-dominated discourse, presenting Black gospel music as a tradition that was birthed in the churches founded by African Caribbean migrants during the post-war years in Britain. This book is structured around three main themes-context, culture and conservation-and features first-hand accounts from founding members of African Caribbean Pentecostalism, as well as from selected pioneers of singing and music within the various historic congregations. It explores topics such as the arrival and settlement of African Caribbean ancestors in Britain, the exporting of African Caribbean religious beliefs and practices, the growth of African Caribbean Pentecostal churches in Britain, and illustrations of a distinctive African Caribbean Pentecostal style of congregational worship.
