This book derives, solves, and assesses the Langevin Stochastic Equations (LSE) as a tool for treating turbulent flows. Previous work has demonstrated the LSE's ability to successfully describe non-geophysical turbulent flows. However, this book specifically focuses on geophysical flows. Chapter I addresses the modeling of oceanic mesoscales (M) and sub-mesoscales (SM), while Chapter II discusses vertical mixing.The target audience for this book is advanced students and researchers interested in future climate change and the crucial role played by the ocean. One of the main challenges in describing oceanic M and SM is that they are governed by non-linear interactions for which no satisfactory model exists. Despite the unsuccessful attempts to describe non-linearity using the traditional Navier-Stokes Equations (NSE), heuristic models continue to be used. This has created a dilemma: while future climate projections need to be predictive, the heuristic treatment of M and SM lacks predictive power, leading to an internal inconsistency.The primary goal of this book is to demonstrate that the transition from NSE to LSE resolves this inconsistency, paving the way for a fully predictive treatment of M and SM. This advancement is crucial for providing future climate predictions with the credibility they require.

Predicting less, the effective theory does not require&nbsp; a complete system description, but rather only the values of a limited number of global measures, these to be determined by a process of normalizing the theory. &nbsp; In the text, the dynamical system is identified as a meta-mass comprising a grounded housing element containing a large multiplicity of oscillators, and the theory describes the non-Newtonian behavior of the basic element for a virtually inexhaustible class of non-classical mechanical and mechanical/electrical systems. The non-Newtonian behavior of primary interest is an enhanced energetics, referring to the energy transfer between the meta-mass housing element and an external source. Internal energy transfer between the meta-mass housing element and the encapsulated oscillators is the occasion of changes in the external energy transfer, which has no counterpart in Newtonian mechanics.  studierte Chemie an der Universität-GH-Duisburg und promovierte dort in Physikalischer Chemie. Er ist seit 30 Jahren beim Fraunhofer-Institut UMSICHT tätig. In den letzten Jahren untersucht er multidisziplinäre Aspekte übergreifender Themen, wie der Circular Economy und Bioökonomie. Er lehrt hierzu an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB).
 Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Renner
 ist promovierter Maschinenbauingenieur. Er leitet das Fraunhofer-Institut UMSICHT in Oberhausen und ist Inhaber des von ihm gegründeten Lehrstuhls „Responsible Process Engineering“ an der Fakultät für Maschinenbau der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). Im Rahmen seiner Professur untersucht er seit 2022 die systemische Entwicklung der Circular Economy auf Unternehmens-, regionaler und europäischer Ebene.

Dies ist ein Open-Access-Buch.&nbsp;In der Natur, heißt es, befindet sich alles im Kreislauf. Für die Circular Economy und Bioökonomie ist die Kreislauffigur deshalb „das“ Leitmotiv.
