This anthology documents a decade of some of the UK's most exciting queer performances, through a combination of retrospective scripts, development material and visual documentation.

 Queer performances are expected to live a brief, bright life without leaving any textual record. Indeed, they rarely begin with complete scripts at all, being often developed instead by performance practices designed to fill noisy bars, clinking cabaret venues and fringe theatres, typically for short runs. This lack of textual documentation underplays the importance of writing to contemporary queer performances, while rendering them vulnerable to disappearance in the diaphanous archives of memory.
 
Writing Queer Performance: Contemporary Texts and Documents features eight seminal works, captured though performance texts and visual documentation, that ensures their accessibility long after the event of live performance. Supported by a contextualizing introduction, the anthology provides a panoramic view of contemporary preoccupations, processes and practices.

Arden Studies in Early Modern Drama

The concepts of trust and risk provide important insights into the social and cultural life of early modern England but remain relatively unexplored in early modern literary studies. This collection addresses that gap by exploring a wide range of literary genres and texts including comic drama, lyric verse, emblem books, ledgers, wills, polemical prose and religious epic. Contributors explore issues of personal trust through the faith and lies that characterize Shakespeare's sonnets, Donne's sermons and Milton's Paradise Lost. Following the idea of trust and risk into community brings us to a discussion of The Merry Wives of Windsor, the spiritual trust of faith communities and the network of relationships that are traceable though surviving records of women's wills. Following this progression outwards from the personal to the communal, the final essays in the collection consider the role of institutional trust, specifically the early modern obsession with credit in its various guises. The Merchant of Venice, Volpone and The Winter's Tale act as illustrative examples of credit's significance for understanding trust and risk in the early modern period. Taken together the range of texts and genres considered reveal new insights into early modern English literature and its socio-economic context.

Sonya Kelly’s Druid Plays

Elaine Romero is an award-winning and prolific Latina playwright with a career spanning more than thirty years. In her Border Trilogy-Wetback, Mother of Exiles, and Title IX -she presents a striking and prophetic vision of life along the US-Mexico border. 

In this, the first anthology of her work, Elaine Romero's plays introduced by Jimmy A. Noriega who contextualizes the plays alongside her remarkable life and achievements . Her plays tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time, including debates on undocumented immigration, gun safety and schools, and gender discrimination in the workplace. The heroines of the trilogy are Latina educators caught in different moments of political upheaval as they attempt to negotiate the crevices between the personal and the political. 
 
Wetback charts the intertwined fates of an accomplished Latina principal, a Chicana activist journalist, a Mexican undocumented worker, and a white supremacist superintendent and his two children. Mother of Exiles features an Ivy-league educated Latina who returns to teach theatre in her hometown, only to find that it is the moment the state has decided to arm teachers as the frontline of defense against school shootings. Title IX begins in 1972 when a teacher hesitates to use the law when she is sexually harassed in the workplace; the second part takes place in 2016, when her adult daughter seeks help through Title IX in a similar situation. All three plays interrogate race and gender in a society (and system) still struggling to see how the world we have created/legislated differs from the world in which we live.
