Atlantic Broadband is a privately held cable company with headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts. The company has over 700 employees and 285,000 customers in four operating regions: Florida, Maryland/Delaware, South Carolina and Central Pennsylvania. It was formed by acquiring nonstrategic regions from Charter Communications in 2004. Atlantic Broadband is the 15th largest cable provider in the United States.The Cattaraugus County division of Atlantic Broadband has seen several television disputes with the stations in the Buffalo, New York market. In December 2007, WIVB-TV claimed that Atlantic Broadband is distributing WIVB's signal without "the authority to do so;" Atlantic Broadband announced it would cease carrying WIVB in favor of WSEE-TV in January 2009 with no effort to reach a deal; however, a deal was reached in January 2009, keeping both WIVB and WSEE on the air there.
