Informationstechnik, d.h. die Erfassung, Übertragung, Verarbeitung und Ausgabe von Daten, ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil mechatronischer Systeme. Dabei werden in der Mechatronik besondere Anforderungen an die Informationsverarbeitung gestellt. Die zunehmende Komplexität mechatronischer Systeme erfordert Entwicklungsmethoden, die eine konsistente funktionale Beschreibung ermöglichen. In der Publikation werden zunächst die Anforderungen an die Informationsverarbeitung in der Mechatronik erörtert, dazu gehören Themen wie Reaktionszeit, Echtzeitfähigkeit, Zuverlässigkeit, Sicherheit, Komplexität und Resistenz gegen Umwelteinflüsse. Unter Bezug auf die Anforderungen werden in den folgenden Kapiteln geeignete Softwarelösungen, Hardwarekomponenten und Datenübertragungsverfahren (Bussysteme) erläutert und hinsichtlich ihrer Vor- und Nachteile untersucht. Diese Kapitel geben einen Überblick über geeignete Lösungen, schärfen den Blick für wichtige Eigenschaften und sind damit eine wichtige Hilfe bei der Realisierung eigener Projekte. Lösungsansätze werden an Beispielen erläutert. Die zunehmende Größe und Komplexität mechatronischer Systeme verlangt Beschreibungsverfahren, die den vielfältigen Anforderungen gerecht werden. Ansätze werden beschrieben und hinsichtlich Ihrer Möglichkeiten und Grenzen untersucht.
