Substance use disorders and their sequelae touch virtually all aspects of our everyday life. The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, along with many other national, state and local institutions, is committed to seeking ways to turn this "intractable problem" of substance use disorders into one with answers and cures. This first book in the Academy's Key Readings in Addiction Psychiatry compendia aims to overcome the fatalistic view that substance abusers cannot be helped by providing a look at the most up-to-date reviews in treatment of substance abuse.
