Hans Weiss, aufgewachsen im Bregenzerwald, erzählt in seiner Autobiographie von seinem abenteuerlichen Leben als sehr erfolgreicher Buchautor, Journalist und künstlerischer Fotograf. Seine erste Freundin wurde zur Terroristin, er lebte zeitweise in London und New York, und in Wien längere Zeit in Wohngemeinschaft mit einem berühmten Schriftsteller. 
Für seine investigativen Recherchen verkleidete er sich unter anderem als Pharma-Manager, Import-Händler und reicher Erbe. Allein oder mit anderen schrieb er große Bestseller wie "Bittere Pillen", "Kursbuch Gesundheit", "Schwarzbuch Markenfirmen", "Schwarzbuch Landwirtschaft" oder "Korrupte Medizin". Immer ging es darum, die düstere Wahrheit hinter den schönen Fassaden von Institutionen oder Konzernen aufzudecken. 
In seiner Autobiographie schreibt er: "Die Auseinandersetzung zwischen Wahrheit und Zensur war ein bestimmendes Thema meines publizistischen Lebens."
