VOODOO ECONOMICS TO MAGA AND THE PILLAGING OF THE WORKING CLASS: CAN DEMOCRACY SURVIVE THE RIGHT-WING ASSAULT? by Howard Gunn is a provocative examination of the political and economic landscape in America. The book explores how right-wing ideologies have exploited the working class since the founding of the nation with the working class in poverty and a substantial portion of the working class in slavery.
Howard traces the development of our economy, our democracy, and the conservative right-wing evolution from "Voodoo Economics-a term famously used to critique tax cuts for the wealthy and trickle-down governance policies to the MAGA moverment and its Gilded Age Robber Baron ideology challenging the foundations of democracy, today.
Through his historical analysis and sharp commentary, the book investigates the mechanisms of economic exploitation and political manipulation. He raises urgent questions about the future of our democratic institutions in the face of escalating Republican assaults.
Mr. Gunn's work is both a warning and a call to action to preserve our democratic government model of the people, by the people and for the people. VOODOO ECONOMICS TO MAGA and the PILLAGING OF THE WORKING CLASS

Introducing new insights into the history of ceramic design and consumption, Neil Ewins departs from the focus on manufacturers and producers and presents a third perspective that puts the multifaceted lives of the merchants, importers and dealers at the centre. Challenging the notion that intermediaries involved in the Anglo-American ceramic trade from the late 18th into the 19th century were simply motivated by maximizing profits and widespread market demands, Ewin's alternative approach demonstrates the value of taking their culture, identity and conscience into account. The geographic gap between the British manufacturer and the American consumer meant that those involved in mercantile activities assumed a highly significant role. Ewins analyses a range of sources including city directories, advertisements, newspapers and family trees to identify those involved in the ceramic trade, supplemented by archival material relating to the Wainwright and Ovington families. Illustrated with examples of ceramics and engravings, chapters explore how the intermediaries commissioned and marketed ceramics for different reasons, influenced by their political, social, religious and moral views. Ewins investigates how culture and a strong sense of identity, the abolition movement, kinship and family ties, religious beliefs and community, and the interracial experience all played a part in the manufacture, distribution and consumption of ceramics in the US market. This volume demonstrates how the role of intermediaries deserves a place in the history of the Anglo-American ceramic trade; beyond design and consumption being production-led or market-led, it reveals that it could also be conscience-led and suggests the picture is far more complex than once understood.

Patentstrategien können in Patentanmeldestrategien und Strategien zur Abwehr störender Patente unterteilt werden. In aller Regel werden Patente und nicht Patentanmeldungen als störend empfunden, da Patentanmeldungen im Gegensatz zu Patenten nicht durchgesetzt werden können bzw. da es noch überhaupt nicht bekannt ist, was überhaupt der Schutzbereich eines durchsetzungsfähigen Patents aus der Anmeldung sein wird. Der Schutzumfang wird erst durch die Patenterteilung bestimmt. Dann ist es möglich, dass der Schutzumfang der erteilten Anmeldung nicht mehr stört, da das eigene Produkt keine Patentverletzung darstellt. Außerdem ist es möglich, dass sich aus einer Patentanmeldung überhaupt kein Schutzbereich ergibt, da die Patentanmeldung zurückgewiesen wird. Eine Patentanmeldung ist eben ein noch ungeprüftes Schutzrecht. Ein eingetragenes Gebrauchsmuster ist ebenfalls ein ungeprüftes Schutzrecht, obwohl es als vollständig durchsetzbares Schutzrecht gilt. Dennoch wird es der Inhaber eines eingetragenen Gebrauchsmusters schwer haben, eine einstweilige Verfügung ohne vorherige mündliche Anhörung der Gegenseite zu erhalten. Die Chancen hierfür sind bei einem Patent deutlich besser.
Der Anmelder einer Patentanmeldung wird sich spätestens kurz vor Ablauf des Prioritätsjahrs vor die Frage gestellt sehen, ob er Nachanmeldungen in ausländischen Ländern vornehmen soll. Hierbei ist es relevant, in welchen Ländern wichtige Märkte für ihn sind und in welchen Ländern die Wettbewerber ihre Produktionsanlagen haben. Außerdem benötigt der Anmelder Informationen, wie am effektivsten und am kostengünstigsten Nachanmeldungen vorzunehmen sind bzw. welche Patentanmeldestrategien angewandt werden können. Dieses Fachbuch gibt dem Leser die Informationen an die Hand, die geeignete Anmeldestrategie zu finden und störende Patente abzuwehren. In der 2. Auflage des Buchs wird das seit Juni 2023 verfügbare Einheitspatent vorgestellt. Außerdem wurde in die 2. Auflage ein Kapitel zum Management von Patentportfolios neu aufgenommen, das eine praxiserprobte Methode zur Bewertung von Schutzrechten beschreibt. Wertlose Schutzrechte können so identifiziert und fallen gelassen werden, um Kosten zu sparen. 
Insbesondere kann die Methode zur Bestimmung der Stärke des eigenen und fremder Patentportfolios genutzt werden, um sich auf Verhandlungen bzw. streitige Verfahren mit Wettbewerbern vorzubereiten.
