This book examines the pre-modern states on Chinäs north-eastern frontier, in particular the Liao and Koryo, during the 10th, 11th and 12th centuries, explaining their important role during a crucial formative period in which the shape of the modern Chinese and northeast Eurasian states from Mongolia to Korea was formed.
