Post Anthropocenes

Postcolonial, Postmodern, and Posthuman Ecocriticism
Publié par:Vakoch, Douglas A.

Contenu

Post Anthropocenes: Postcolonial, Postmodern, and Posthuman Ecocriticism explores three distinct yet interrelated approaches to understanding the significance of the Anthropocene. Using the lenses of postcolonialism, postmodernism, and posthumanism, the book identifies ways that the Anthropocene forces us to reevaluate the relationship between humanity and nature. The chapters offer a coherent framework to anticipate what lies beyond the Anthropocene.

Douglas A. Vakoch is president of METI International, a scientific organization dedicated to Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence (METI), a multigenerational research transmitting radio signals to nearby stars. Many of his ecocritical books take ecofeminist approaches, such as The Routledge Handbook of Ecofeminism and Literature (2023), Indian Feminist Ecocriticism (2022), Ecofeminist Science Fiction: International Perspectives on Gender, Ecology, and Literature (2021), Literature and Ecofeminism: Intersectional and International Voices (2018), and Feminist Ecocriticism: Environment, Women, and Literature (2012). Vakoch is general editor of three scholarly book series: Ecocritical Theory and Practice, Environment and Society, and Critical Plant Studies.
