The book explores how right-wing ideologies have exploited the working class since the founding of the nation with the working class in poverty and a substantial portion of the working class in slavery.
Howard traces the development of our economy, our democracy, and the conservative right-wing evolution from "Voodoo Economics-a term famously used to critique tax cuts for the wealthy and trickle-down governance policies to the MAGA moverment and its Gilded Age Robber Baron ideology challenging the foundations of democracy, today.
Through his historical analysis and sharp commentary, the book investigates the mechanisms of economic exploitation and political manipulation. He raises urgent questions about the future of our democratic institutions in the face of escalating Republican assaults.
Mr. Gunn's work is both a warning and a call to action to preserve our democratic government model of the people, by the people and for the people. The book was written for those concerned about preserving democratic values for posterity in the turbulent twenty-first century conflict that includes Republican recessions, government shutdowns and No King rallies against the dark forces of right-wing Robber Barons and their conservative Plutocracy model, pitted against democracy.

It follows Jake Braun, a senior White House official, and his colleagues while they scramble to respond to the epidemic. In the process, Braun uncovered the remarkable transformation cartels in Mexico underwent over the last 50 years. They morphed from narco-empires the size of Fortune 50 companies specializing in marijuana and cocaine to ones specializing in human migration and, separately, fentanyl. After much painstaking effort, the Biden Administration successfully executed the most sweeping takedown of cartel leadership and fentanyl infrastructure since the crisis began. Due to the efforts of heroic agents, intelligence officers and national security experts, the leviathan U.S. government is now marshaled in ways never before imagined against the Chinese chemical companies and cartels propagating the fentanyl epidemic. Further, the strategy seems to be working. Just a year after it was kicked off, the fentanyl fatalities dropped nearly 37%. Yet the crisis persists. Finally, Braun draws on his unique experience combating the epidemic to outline how the U.S. government can once and for all end the fentanyl crisis in America.
