This resource is intended to help county DSS directors, social workers, attorneys, court officials, and others working in the area of adult protective services in understanding the procedures applicable to adult protective services court proceedings, including proceedings to obtain an order for protective services, an order for emergency services, and an ex parte order for emergency services. The text and flow chart in this resource have been updated to reflect legislative changes from S.L. 2025-27 and replace the previous version of this publication, which was published earlier this year.
